Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the toxicity risks of titanium dioxide (TiO) and zirconium dioxide (ZrO) nanoparticles, which are widely used in various industries.
  • Pregnant rats were used in experiments to test the effects of these nanoparticles on maternal health and the development of their offspring, with a dosage of 100 mg/kg/day.
  • The results indicate that while neither TiO nor ZrO nanoparticles exhibited embryonic or teratogenic effects on the fetus, they did influence postnatal development in the offspring.

Estimating admixture histories is crucial for understanding the genetic diversity we see in present-day populations. Allele frequency or phylogeny-based methods are excellent for inferring the existence of admixture or its proportions. However, to estimate admixture times, spatial information from admixed chromosomes of local ancestry or the decay of admixture linkage disequilibrium (ALD) is used.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the role of genetic variants in the susceptibility and severity of COVID-19 using a large dataset (gnomAD) and a group of 37 Russian patients.
  • It finds slight differences in allele frequencies among European populations, particularly noting that Southern Europeans have fewer missense variants.
  • While common genetic variants do not significantly impact COVID-19 severity, some rare variants may influence disease outcomes, suggesting genetics play a role in varying COVID-19 severity.

Water-soluble PMVA was synthesized by radical polymerization methods. A number of polymer samples were fractionated in the chloroform-diethyl ether system. Fractions were studied by molecular hydrodynamics methods (sedimentation velocity, translational isothermal diffusion and viscosity) in H(2)O and DMF.
