Successful Renal Transplant in End-Stage Renal Disease with Chronic Immune Thrombocytopenia using Thrombopoietin Receptor Agonists and Intravenous Immunoglobulin.

Chronic kidney disease in immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) is uncommon, and renal transplant in this setting is rare. We discuss the successful renal transplant of a 29-year-old male with chronic ITP. During transplant, he was managed with thrombopoietin receptor agonist eltrombopag, intravenous methylprednisone, and intravenous immunoglobulin to maintain adequate platelet level.

Thrombolysis in STEMI in the era of COVID - Holding fort in cardiologist deficit locales.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the pharmaco-invasive approach in the management of ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) played a vital role in saving many lives. A retrospective observational study was conducted wherein 134 patients presenting with STEMI between (Dec 2019-Mar 2022) were thrombolysed with either streptokinase or tenecteplase in a centre where primary PCI was not available. There was no significant difference in the outcomes and their predictors between the SK and TNK groups.

Transient, subclinical atrial fibrillation and risk of systemic embolism in patients with rheumatic mitral stenosis in sinus rhythm.

Stroke and systemic embolism occur frequently in patients with rheumatic mitral stenosis (MS) in sinus rhythm (SR), but the risk and predictors of embolic events in this population are not well studied. The aim of this study was to determine if transient, subclinical atrial fibrillation (AF) increases the risk of systemic embolism in patients with MS in SR. A single-center, prospective observational study of patients with rheumatic MS in SR was performed.
