Article Synopsis
  • Acute cerebrovascular events like ischaemic stroke and subarachnoid haemorrhage can lead to left ventricular dysfunction and ECG abnormalities that may resemble signs of cardiac ischaemia.
  • A case study is presented involving a 62-year-old woman who showed ECG repolarisation abnormalities while being treated for pneumonia, leading to the diagnosis of an intracerebral haemorrhage despite no signs of cardiac dysfunction.
  • The authors highlight that when symptoms do not fit typical acute coronary syndrome, ambiguous ECG changes might indicate a primary cerebrovascular issue, even when neurological and cardiac symptoms are absent.
