Background: Subjective cognitive decline (SCD), an early indicator of cognitive impairment, may affect COPD care and outcomes, yet its sociodemographic associations in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) remain poorly understood.
Objective: To investigate the prevalence of SCD among people with COPD across different age groups and identify associations between demographics, risk behaviors, comorbidities, and self-reported SCD.
Design: Pooled 2019 BRFSS data from 24 states using the Cognitive Decline module were analyzed.
This study compared adaptive behavior skills between children with autism spectrum disorder and social communication disorder using the Vineland Adaptive Behavior Scale-III. The researchers analyzed data from 232 children with autism spectrum disorder and 90 with social communication disorder. Key findings showed that children with social communication disorder demonstrated significantly better adaptive functioning across all areas compared to those with autism spectrum disorder.

These innovations also serve to provide actionable data and insights for the care team giving them a "Webb telescope-like" view into their individual self-management journey, allowing them to see what cannot be seen during infrequent and limited office visits, thereby facilitating collaboration and communication to optimize the care plan on a timely basis. Technology advances are enabling diabetes care to transition from episodic, synchronous, primarily in-person care to include synchronous virtual care options and to continuous, on-demand, data-informed, asynchronous digital care better matching the demands of living with a relentless 24/7 chronic condition.

Objective: To prioritize challenges of older adults with COPD and those who care for them to guide refinement of a telephonic nurse coach intervention for patients with COPD and their family caregivers (EPIC: Empowering People to Independence in COPD).
Design: Multiphase study guided by Baltes Theory of Successful Aging and the 5Ms Framework: Phase 1: Nominal group technique (NGT), a structured process of prioritizing responses to a question through group consensus.
Background: Patients with lung cancer, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), and COPD have high symptom burden, poor quality of life, and high health care use at the end of life. Although proactive integration of palliative care in lung cancer can improve outcomes, it is unclear whether similar practices have been adopted in COPD and IPF care.
Research Question: Do patients with COPD and IPF have different patterns of health care and palliative care use at the end of life compared with patients with lung cancer?
Study Design And Methods: We retrospectively identified deceased patients with lung cancer, COPD, or IPF with ≥ 1 outpatient visit at the University of California, San Francisco, in the last 6 months of life.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: EPIC (Empowering People to Independence in COPD) is a geriatric-palliative care telephonic, nurse coach intervention informed by Baltes' Theory of Successful Aging and adapted from the ENABLE (Educate, Nurture, Advise, Before Life Ends) intervention. EPIC, focused on improving independence, mobility, well-being, and COPD symptoms, has undergone formative and summative evaluation for adults with COPD.
Methods: The primary study aim is to assess the refined EPIC intervention's feasibility and acceptability via a pilot hybrid effectiveness-implementation randomized control trial in community-dwelling older adults with moderate to severe COPD and their family caregivers.

Here a newly commissioned sample environment based on a commercially available nanoindenter is presented, which is available at the NanoMAX beamline at the MAX IV synchrotron. Using X-ray nanoprobes of around 60-70 nm at 14-16 keV and a scanning step size of 100 nm, we map the strains, stresses, plastic deformation and fracture during nanoindentation of industrial coatings with thicknesses in the range of several micrometres, relatively strong texture and large grains.

Vigabatrin had profound effects on many metabolites, increasing serum deoxycytidine monophosphate (dCMP) levels 52-fold. Most serum proteins and metabolites, and blood RNA species showed significant change with age.
