Assessment of air pollution caused by illegal e-waste burning to evaluate the human health risk.

The onset of the 21st century has started a corresponding change in consumer lifestyles, resulting in the generation of a huge amount of the end-of-life electronics, known as e-waste. The e-waste recycling activities can pose a high risk to the environment and human health. We monitored air pollution levels (PM) and heavy metal concentrations (Pb, Cu, Zn, Ni and Cr) in the air for three consecutive months in an area where illegal e-waste recycling was in operation and compared the results with other two residential sites.

Assessment of heavy metals in suspended particulate matter in Moradabad, India.

Samples of suspended particulate matter (PM10) were collected from three different sites in Moradabad, India. The sampling was done concurrently twice a week during the period of April 2011-March 2012. Elemental concentration of PM10 was analyzed using an Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrophotometer (ICP-OES).

Five year studies on suspended particulate matter and heavy metals trends in Brass City of India.

Moradabad is historically an important city of western Uttar Pradesh which is popularly known as Brass City of India, as about one thousand large and small scale brassware industries are located in and around the city. Suspended Particulate Matter (SPM) was collected two times in a week using High Volume Samplers (HVS) at six selected sites representing different areas of the city. The result indicates the annual and seasonal variations of SPM from 2005-2010.

Airborne Cu and Zn at some urban sites in Pital Nagri (Moradabad), India.

Airborne concentrations of copper (Cu) and zinc (Zn) in suspended particulate matter (SPM) have been measured at three urban sites in Pital Nagri (brass city) of India over a period of one year, i.e., August 2006 to July 2007.

Assessment of air pollution tolerance index of some trees in Moradabad city, India.

To see the relative tolerance of the plant species, ten different plant species i.e. Ficus rumphii, Pongamia pinnata, Alstonia scholaris, Holoptelea integrifolia, Saraca indica, Pithecolobium dulcis, Cassia simea, Bauhinia variegata, Azadirachta indica and Grewelia robusta was taken from residential (SI), industrial (SII) and commercial (SIII) area of the city as this florais very much common to the Brass city and is planted on the roadside.
