Background: Recurrent genetic alterations contributing to leukemogenesis have been identified in pediatric B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (B-ALL), and some are useful for refining classification, prognosis, and treatment selection. is a complex biomarker associated with a poor prognosis. It is characterized by deletion coexisting with , , or PAR1 region deletions.

B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL) is one of the most common childhood cancers worldwide. Although most cases are sporadic, some familial forms, inherited as autosomal dominant traits with incomplete penetrance, have been described over the last few years. Germline pathogenic variants in transcription factors such as , and have been identified as causal in familial forms.

Background: Little is known about the companion animals which tested positive in Mexico for Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection. Due to this, it is that we have documented the infection of companion animals, via an exploratory approach in two localities of the Valley of Mexico, in which the companion animal owners tested positive for COVID-19.

Methods: Oropharyngeal and nasopharyngeal swabs were collected from 21 companion animals.

Background: In Mexico, the incidence of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) has increased in the last few years. Mortality is higher than in developed countries, even though the same chemotherapy protocols are used. CCAAT Enhancer Binding Protein Alpha () mutations are recurrent in AML, influence prognosis, and help to define treatment strategies.

This study reports on a Mexican mestizo patient with a multi-systemic syndrome including neurological involvement and a type I serum transferrin profile. Clinical exome sequencing revealed complex alleles in , the encoding gene for the chitobiosyldiphosphodolichol beta-mannosyltransferase that participates in the formation of the dolichol-pyrophosphate-GlcNAc2Man5, a lipid-linked glycan intermediate during -glycan synthesis. The identified complex alleles were NM_019109.

Article Synopsis
  • Saliva testing for SARS-CoV-2 is a promising alternative to traditional nasopharyngeal swabs, allowing for self-collection and reducing the risk of exposure to the virus.
  • Current saliva tests are hindered by high costs due to the need for specialized tubes, prompting the development of a method using TRIzol to stabilize RNA and inactivate the virus.
  • The new TRIzol saliva testing method has been shown to be just as effective as traditional swabs, offers greater accessibility, is less expensive, and is particularly beneficial for low-income countries in managing COVID-19 cases.
