Hypolipidemic and hepatoprotective effects of corn silk extract in nicotine-administered male mice.

Aim: This study is done to investigate the hypolipidemic and hepatoprotective effects of corn silk extract in nicotine-administered male mice.

Background: Nicotine can induce pathophysiological effects in the liver tissue through oxidative stress and damage cells. Corn silk can improve liver function with its antioxidant effects.

Superhydrophobic cotton fabrics coated by chitosan and titanium dioxide nanoparticles with enhanced antibacterial and UV-protecting properties.

Superhydrophobic cotton fabrics were fabricated using chitosan/titanium dioxide (TiO) nanocomposites. Morphology results revealed that the fabric's surface was utterly coated by the nanoparticles leading to the formation of a highly packed nano-scale structure in the case of superhydrophobic coating. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy results also proved that TiO nanoparticles were highly adsorbed onto the fabric's top layer.
