Article Synopsis
  • - Cancer involves abnormal cell growth, especially in urological cancers, where genetic changes play a key role in tumor development and treatment resistance.
  • - Dysregulation of Wnt signaling, which is linked to tumor growth and metastasis, is common in urological cancers, contributing to decreased effectiveness of chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
  • - Targeting Wnt signaling through various compounds and nanoparticles shows promise in inhibiting tumor growth, and further research on small molecule inhibitors could enhance urological cancer treatment and diagnostics.

Immune checkpoints are a set of inhibitory and stimulatory molecules/mechanisms that affect the activity of immune cells to maintain the existing balance between pro- and anti-inflammatory signaling pathways and avoid the progression of autoimmune disorders. Tumor cells can employ these checkpoints to evade immune system. The discovery and development of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) was thereby a milestone in the area of immuno-oncology.
