Introduction: Anaerobic digestion integrates waste treatment, energy generation, and nutrient recycling, producing methane mainly through acetoclastic (AM) and hydrogenotrophic methanogenesis (HM). Methanogenic pathway management can improve biogas productivity and quality. The balance between pathways is influenced by environmental and physicochemical conditions, with conflicting results on the effect of different factors often reported.

However, the efficiency of pretreatments applied on varying organic streams is poorly assessed. Thus, we performed a meta-analysis on AD studies to evaluate the efficiencies of pretreatments with respect to biogas production measured as methane yield.

Methods: Sleep data from 363 Brazilian public school students (12.78 ± 1.
Cabassous comprises armadillos lacking a full osteoderm cover in the tail, justifying its common name naked-tailed armadillos. In the only taxonomic revision of the genus, in 1980, four living species were recognized, including a polytypic taxon with two subspecies. Recent studies have questioned this classification, but a comprehensive taxonomic review is lacking.

Changes in rest-activity patterns can be studied through nonparametric variables of actigraphy: L5 (an individual's least active 5 h), M10 (an individual's most active 10 h) and RA (relative amplitude of the rest-activity rhythm). The variable RA is the normalized difference between L5 and M10 - the higher the RA, the greater the difference between these two variables.

Because of habitat loss and fragmentation, hunting pressure, and conflicts with domestic dogs, these species have been threatened locally, regionally, or even across their full distribution ranges. The Neotropics harbor 21 species of armadillos, 10 anteaters, and 6 sloths.

Methods: The translation/validation process was carried out through translation, back translation, technical review, assessment of verbal comprehension/clarity of the scale by experts and a focus group, test-retest, and application of the tool. The reproducibility analysis was performed by applying the PDSS in test-retest; internal consistency was verified by applying the scale in 90 children and adolescents.
Purpose: To evaluate macro and microscopically the evolution of autotransplants of fragments of spleen different fragments in the greater omentum, after eight weeks of observation.
Methods: Twenty rats Wistar were used, males and adults, submitted to total splenectomy and divided in two groups. The group I - ten animals with implant of spleen fragment (25% weight of spleen) in the omentum; and group II - ten animals with implant of spleen fragment (30% weight of spleen) in the omentum.
Purpose: To analyze the triple antimicrobial therapy in positive Helicobacter spp. dogs and to investigate recurrence.
Methods: A total of 20 dogs underwent endoscopy followed by gastric biopsy using the rapid urease test and histopathology stained with Giemsa.
Objective: Medication errors are currently a worldwide public health issue and it is one of the most serious prescription errors. The objective of the study was to evaluate the practice of prescribing high-alert medications and its association with the prevalence of medication errors in hospital settings.
Methods: A retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted including 4,026 prescription order forms of high-alert medications.
Objective: To determine the dispensing error rate and to identify factors associated with them, and to propose prevention actions.
Methods: A cross-sectional study focusing on the occurrence of dispensing errors in a general hospital in Belo Horizonte that uses a mixed system (a combination of multidose and unit dose systems) of collective and individualized dosing.
Results: A total of 422 prescription order forms were analyzed, registering 81.

Pharmacies permeate and interconnect various actions developed in different sectors within the complex process of the use of drugs in a hospital. Dispensing failures mean that a breach has occurred in one of the last safety links in the use of drugs. Although most failures do not harm patients, their existence suggests fragility in the process and indicates an increased risk of severe accidents.

The protocol amplifies regions of the viral LA and IE genes and employs elevated temperatures for both reagent mixing and primer annealing together with product detection by silver staining on polyacrylamide gels. This assay detects one to five HCMV genomes in clinical samples containing up to 100 ng of human DNA, a level of sensitivity equivalent to that of more complex assays involving either nested PCR or postamplification hybridization.
