Hamman's syndrome or Macklin phenomenon - spontaneous pneumomediastinum - is an uncommon condition that often gets missed due to the lack of awareness. It may rarely be associated with diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) due to repeated vomiting or Kussmaul breathing associated with it.
