Good Syndrome in a Young Woman: An Unusual Presentation.

Good Syndrome is a rare disease that comprises the presence of a thymoma, immunodeficiency, and recurrent opportunistic infections. We report the case of a young woman who was diagnosed with Good Syndrome, who had a long-term history of recurrent infections, often due to atypical agents, and who also had a previous history of immunodeficiency and a B1 thymoma invading the large vessels, lung, and pericardium (Masaoka stage IV). She underwent surgical resection of the mediastinal mass, requiring vena cava superior reconstruction due to the extent of invasion, followed by adjuvant radiotherapy and immunoglobulin G supplementation.

Cardiovascular and cerebrovascular risk markers in Parkinson's disease: Results from a case-control study.

Background: The relationship between Parkinson's disease (PD) and cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease is not yet well established. Recent data suggest an increased risk of myocardial infarction and stroke in PD patients. Therefore, we designed a study to assess surrogate markers of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular risk in PD.

CardioScape mapping the cardiovascular funding landscape in Europe.

Aims: The burden of cardiovascular disease is increasing worldwide, which has to be reflected by cardiovascular (CV) research in Europe. CardioScape, a FP7 funded project initiated by the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), identified where CV research is performed, how it is funded and by whom. It could be transformed into an on-line and up-to-date resource of great relevance for researchers, funding bodies and policymakers and could be a role model for mapping CV research funding in Europe and beyond.
