Introduction: Cardiovascular disease is the major cause of premature death in chronic kidney disease (CKD) and vascular damage is often detected belatedly, usually evaluated by expensive and invasive techniques. CKD involves specific risk factors that lead to vascular calcification and atherosclerosis, where inflammation plays a critical role. However, there are few inflammation-related markers to predict vascular damage in CKD.

Objective:  The present work evaluates the predictive value of low-density granulocytes (LDGs) for the development of cardiovascular disease (CVD) and/or bone deterioration (BD) in a 6-year prospective study in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Considering the high SLE-LDG capacity to form neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs), circulating levels of total cell-free DNA (cirDNA) and relative amounts of mitochondrial and nuclear DNA (mtDNA and nDNA, respectively) were tested as LDG-associated biomarkers to identify SLE patients at risk of CVD and BD.

Material And Methods:  The frequency of total blood LDGs, as well as the CD16CD14 (nLDG) and CD16CD14 (pLDG) subsets, was quantified by flow cytometry in 33 controls and 144 SLE patients.

Pedagogical practices and civic knowledge and engagement in Latin America: Multilevel analysis using ICCS data.

This study explored the relationship between pedagogical practices and the civic knowledge and engagement of students from five Latin American and Caribbean countries, using a multilevel analysis of the 2016 International Civic and Citizenship Education Study (ICCS). The results reveal the complex interplay of educational, sociodemographic, and attitudinal factors in shaping the civic knowledge and engagement of students. Extracurricular civic engagement showed a negative correlation with student civic knowledge and engagement as measured by the ICCS cognitive test.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the consistency and accuracy of ChatGPT-generated answers to clinical questions in endodontics, compared to answers provided by human experts.
