Headache is a common symptom in the postpartum period, which can have a varied aetiology. Although rare, cerebral venous thrombosis can be a fatal complication in the parturient. Dural puncture is considered as one of the risk factors for cerebral venous thrombosis and the proposed mechanism pathogenesis can be explained by the components of Virchow's triad: stasis of the blood, hypercoagulability, and endothelial damage.
