Online Group Consultation on Labor Analgesia for Pregnant Women: Is It Feasible?

Introduction: Our department of anesthesiology has been conducting weekly, for several years, a group consultation to educate childbearing people about labor analgesia. The emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic forced an adaptation to a virtual consultation format. Since there are no studies about online group consultation on labor analgesia in order to understand its role, an anonymous questionnaire was created and applied.

Aortic Dissection With Cardiac Tamponade in Pregnancy: A Challenging Clinical Scenario.

Aortic dissection is the acute aortic syndrome with the highest mortality, and pregnancy and arterial hypertension are known risk factors. Its association with the perinatal period is a particularly unique and potentially devastating clinical catastrophe which is why the approach to a pregnant woman in cardiorespiratory arrest (CRA) should be multidisciplinary and early, with extraction of the fetus ideally within five minutes after the arrest. We present the case of a 39-year-old pregnant woman, who presented with a cardiorespiratory arrest in the context of an aortic dissection with cardiac tamponade and the need for an urgent perimortem cesarean section.

Primary Lateral Sclerosis: Can Rocuronium Be an Option?

Primary lateral sclerosis (PLS) is a neurodegenerative motor neuron disorder that is characterized by corticospinal and corticobulbar dysfunction. In this disease, muscle relaxants in general anesthesia should be used with extreme caution. A 67-year-old woman with a history of PLS was scheduled for laparoscopic gastrostomy due to long-term dysphagia.
