Related factors of the nursing diagnosis ineffective breathing pattern in an intensive care unit.

Objective: to identify the predicting factors and sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative related value of nursing diagnosis Ineffective Breathing Pattern among patients of an intensive care unit.

Method: cross-sectional study. A logistic regression was fitted to assess the simultaneous effects of related factors.

Construction and validation of an instrument for nursing consultation in outpatient chemotherapy.

Objective: Construct and validate instrument content for nursing consultation in an adult chemotherapy outpatient clinic.

Method: Methodological study composed of two stages: elaboration of the instrument and validation of content. A literary review of the dimensions of customer care was carried out in the light of Theory of Basic Human Needs Theory, culminating in two instruments: one for admission consultation and other for follow-up.

Method: Integrative review with the steps: problem identification, literature search, evaluation and analysis of data and presentation of results.

Results: Twenty articles and two dissertations were included.

Quality of life and burden in carers for persons with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease receiving oxygen therapy.

Objective: to assess the quality of life and burden of caregivers to Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease patients on Long-Term Oxygen Therapy and to investigate the factors influencing this burden.

Method: this is an analytical, cross-sectional study of 80 persons with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease on Long-Term Oxygen Therapy who used the specialized outpatient center of the Federal University of São Paulo, and their carers. The following instruments were used: Medical Outcomes Studies 36 (SF-36), Caregiver Burden Scale (CBS) and the Katz Index, along with socio-demographic and clinical variables.

Comparison of the quality of life among persons with lung cancer, before and after the chemotherapy treatment.

Objective: this prospective study aimed to assess the quality of life related to health (QLRH) of patients with lung cancer after chemotherapy treatment.

Method: The QLRH was assessed using the questionnaires Quality-of-Life Questionnaire-Core 30 (QLQ-C30) and Lung Cancer Module (LC13), version 3.0.

Interference of nail polish on the peripheral oxygen saturation in patients with lung problems during exercise.

Aim: To assess the interference of nail polish on the reading of peripheral oxygen saturation in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease on the step exercise.

Methods: In this study, there was the inclusion of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, current non-smokers, of both sexes. Four different colours of nail polish were used in the present study (base, light pink, red and brown), randomly distributed among the fingers of the right hand, with the corresponding fingers on the opposite hand being controls.

Influence that sociodemographic variables, clinical characteristics, and level of dependence have on quality of life in COPD patients on long-term home oxygen therapy.

Objective: To evaluate and correlate the quality of life (QoL) of COPD patients on long-term home oxygen therapy (LTOT) with their sociodemographic/clinical characteristics and level of dependence.

Methods: This was a cross-sectional analytical study involving COPD patients on LTOT followed at the Oxygen Therapy Outpatient Clinic of the Federal University of São Paulo Hospital São Paulo, in the city of São Paulo, Brazil. Sociodemographic, clinical, and biochemical data were collected.

[Nursing diagnoses for patients with Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome].

This study aims at identifying the most frequent nursing diagnoses, according to the NANDA's taxonomy II in adult patients of HIV/AIDS and to check how often the defining characteristics, the related factors and the risk factors provided support for their development. Data survey was conducted by researchers in the 60 patients admitted with HIV/aids, followed by the finding out whether the NANDA's proposed requirements to develop the Nursing Diagnoses were appropriate. From the 38 diagnoses, 13 diagnoses were chosen with a frequency equal or higher than 80%.
