The study assessed the effectiveness of the Montreal Cognitive Assessment Brazilian Version (MoCA-BR) for identifying mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and mild Alzheimer's disease (AD) in the elderly, compared to the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE).
Results showed significant differences in MoCA-BR scores among different cognitive impairment groups, with strong reliability and consistency metrics (Cronbach alpha of 0.77, ICC of 0.91).
MoCA-BR proved to be a reliable tool that effectively distinguishes between cognitively healthy individuals and those with MCI or mild AD, showing superior tracking capabilities for MCI compared to MMSE.
