Assessment of the profile of births and deaths in a referral hospital.

Objective: To compare perinatal health indicators in a referral hospital in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.

Methods: Perinatal results and indicators of single live births in Hospital das Clínicas of Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG), Belo Horizonte, Brazil, were compared for two periods, 1995-1998 and 2003-2006. The chi-square test and Student's t test were applied with 5% significance level and 95% confidence interval.
