Reward processing in young people with self-harm behaviour.

Twenty percent of young people report a lifetime presence of self-harm (SH) behaviour, associated with negative health and functional outcomes. Understanding the underlying cognitive mechanisms is needed to develop targeted early interventions. Reward processing biases may underlie SH, aligning with accounts of the behaviour acquiring "addictive" characteristics.

Intensive community care services for children and young people in psychiatric crisis: an expert opinion.

Background: Children and young people's (CYP) mental health is worsening, and an increasing number are seeking psychiatric and mental health care. Whilst many CYPs with low-to-medium levels of psychiatric distress can be treated in outpatient services, CYPs in crisis often require inpatient hospital treatment. Although necessary in many cases, inpatient care can be distressing for CYPs and their families.

The role of dieting, happiness with appearance, self-esteem, and bullying in the relationship between mental health and body-mass index among UK adolescents: a longitudinal analysis of the Millennium Cohort Study.

Background: Mental illness and obesity are among the biggest challenges to population health, they are linked, and may be modifiable during adolescence. We aimed to determine intervening pathways between mental health and BMI z-score symptoms across adolescence.

Methods: In this longitudinal cohort study, we used path models to examine self-reported dieting, happiness with appearance, self-esteem and bullying at 14 years as potential mediators of the cross-lagged relationship between mental health (via the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire) and Body Mass Index (BMI) z-score at 11 and 17 years by sex in the UK Millennium Cohort Study, a prospective cohort study of 18,818 children born in the UK between September 1st, 2000, and January 31st, 2002.

Efficacy of remotely-delivered cognitive behavioural therapy for obsessive-compulsive disorder: An updated meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials.

Introduction: Despite remotely-delivered cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) being an emerging field, the evidence of its efficacy in obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is limited. We aimed to estimate the efficacy of remotely-delivered CBT for OCD, compared to face-to-face CBT and non-CBT control conditions.

Methods: Randomised clinical trials (RCTs) identified through a systematic literature search of PubMed, Ovid/PsychINFO and Web of Science until 21/06/2021.

Obsessive-compulsive disorder in treatment seeking children & adolescents during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Background: Few studies have investigated the COVID-19 pandemic's effect on children and adolescents with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). This study aims to investigate whether the pandemic is associated with increased referral of young people with OCD, any changes in their symptom severity and treatment offered.

Methods: Service data were used to investigate 58 young people (8-17 years) referred and assessed in the Central and Northwest London NHS Foundation Trust Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS), before and during the COVID-19 pandemic (months March-October 2018-2020).

How are parenting practices associated with bullying in adolescents? A cross-sectional study.

Background: Parenting styles have been previously associated with bullying, but some parenting practices have not received strong attention in the literature. We aimed to assess how parenting practices are associated with cyberbullying and traditional bullying involvement in adolescents.

Method: A cross-sectional survey of 2,218 secondary-school students in London (UK) was conducted.

In order to achieve optimum results, it is necessary to know the technique of dental autotransplantation, promoting its use whenever the clinical conditions to perform it are present. The objective of this article is to describe the technique in detail by means of a clinical case of a dental autotransplant whose donor tooth was a third unerupted molar.

Performance of a measure to assess distress in bipolar disorder.

Introduction: Bipolar disorder is a condition that causes distress even for euthymic patients, having an impact on functional capabilities and quality of life. Personal and social variables are potential sources of distress. Yet, there is a lack of measures to identify specific distress in bipolar disorder.

Cyberbullying and post-traumatic stress symptoms in UK adolescents.

Objective: Cyberbullying involvement carries mental health risks for adolescents, although post-traumatic stress (PTS) symptoms have not received strong attention in the UK. This study aimed to assess the overlap between cyber and traditional (ie, face-to-face) bullying, and the relationship to PTS symptoms in UK adolescents.

Understanding social withdrawal in euthymic bipolar patients: The role of stigma.

Social withdrawal acts as a risk factor in mental health, disturbing clinical management and quality of life in euthymic bipolar patients. However, no previous study has analyzed what variables might predict it. We conducted a cross-sectional study in which 49 euthymic bipolar patients were assessed.

Quality of life in euthymic bipolar patients: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Background: Patients with bipolar disorder, even euthymic, could suffer an impairment in their quality of life compared to healthy controls. Since no previous systematic review and meta-analysis has been conducted, the aim of the current study is to conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis of cross-sectional case-controlled studies on quality of life in adult euthymic Bipolar Disorder patients.

Methods: A systematic review and meta-analysis that followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) was conducted.
