The photosynthetic pigments, protein, macro and microelements concentrations, and fatty acids composition of , a free-floating aquatic plant, were analyzed after exposure to Hoagland nutrient solution containing 1, 3, and 5 mg/L Li. The Li content of grew exponentially with the Li concentration in the Hoagland nutrient solution. The exposure to Li did not induce significant changes in Na, Mg, K, Cu, and Zn content but enhanced the Ba, Cr, Mn, Ni and Mo absorption in .

A mobile monitoring campaign was conducted (by bicycle) to assess the black carbon (BC) concentrations in Cluj-Napoca city, Romania, in 2020, before, during and after COVID-19 lock-down. Over the entire study period, the BC concentrations ranged between 1.0 and 25.

The new context of the intensive use of lithium-based batteries led to increased production of Li and Li-containing wastes. All these activities are potential sources of environmental pollution with Li. However, the negative impact of Li on ecosystems, its specific role in the plants' development, uptake mechanism, and response to the induced stress are not fully understood.

The ability of natural zeolite amendment to reduce the uptake of potentially toxic elements (PTEs) by lettuce, spinach and parsley was evaluated using pot experiments. PTE concentrations in roots and shoots, as well as the pseudo total (PT), water soluble (WS) and bioavailable (BA) PTE fractions in the amended soils, were assessed. Although the PT PTE concentration was high, the WS fraction was very low (<0.

In the present work, the capability of the volcanic tuff from Macicasu (Romania) to remove ammonia (NH) from air with different contamination levels during 24 h of adsorption experiments was investigated. The natural zeolitic volcanic tuff was characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), the Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) method, inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The adsorption capacities varied between 0.

The aim of this study was to investigate the use of natural zeolite as support for microbial community formation during wastewater treatment. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), thermal decomposition and differential thermogravimetric curves (TGA/DGT) techniques were used for the physicochemical and structural characterization of zeolites. The chemical characterization of wastewater was performed before and after treatment, after 30 days of using stationary zeolite as support.

Article Synopsis
  • * The spring water exhibited a neutral pH and favorable mineral composition (Ca-Mg-HCO), great taste, and low levels of trace metals and nitrates.
  • * It’s recommended to assess the microbiological quality of the water, implement proper treatment if necessary, and monitor chemical parameters regularly, especially nitrates, while establishing protected areas around the springs for better preservation.

Lithium is a critical element for the modern society due to its uses in various industrial sectors. Despite its unequal distribution in the environment, Li occurrence in Romania was scarcely studied. In this study a versatile measurement method using ICP-MS technique was optimized for the determination of Li from various matrixes.

The capacity of commercial natural activated plant-based carbon (CNAC) to remove different dyes such as methylene blue (MB), eosin yellow (EY) and rhodamine B (RB) was studied. Also, the germination index (GI) was calculated in order to examine the dyes toxicity on various plant seeds by recording and measuring the number of germinated seeds and root length, respectively. Generally, the results showed that high concentrations of dyes inhibit the seed germination by changing their colors and affecting their growth.
