Transfascial muscular hernia: an unusual cause for a "hide and seek" subcutaneous nodule.

Subcutaneous masses are usually difficult to diagnose for dermatologists using palpation. We report a case of a disappearing leg nodule that appeared with muscle compression. This is characteristic of a transfascial muscle hernia.

[Lipoid proteinosis].

Lipoid proteinosis is an infrequent disease characterized by the deposition of a PAS-positive diastase-resistant hyaline material in the skin and respiratory tract, although it can also be deposited in internal organs, in a generally asymptomatic manner. The earliest clinical manifestation is hoarseness. Clinical cutaneous manifestations come later, in the form of hyperkeratotic lesions located on the trunk, elbows, axillae, groins, backs of hands, palms and soles.

Mitotically active juvenile xanthogranuloma.

Juvenile xanthogranuloma is a histiocytic inflammatory disorder capable of presenting different histologic patterns. The classic form consists of sheets of foamy histiocytes and numerous multinucleated Touton-type giant cells containing no to very few mitotic figures. Nonlipidized juvenile xanthogranuloma consists of a diffuse monomorphic histiocytic infiltrate and usually shows a slightly higher mitotic index.

Trichoblastoma arising within an apocrine poroma.

A poroma is a benign neoplasm composed of poroid and cuticular cells and is thought to derive from the eccrine duct. Several recent reports have described cases with sebaceous, follicular, and apocrine differentiation, suggesting a possible apocrine origin, however. Trichoblastoma is a rare benign tumor composed of germinative cells related to the folliculosebaceous-apocrine unit.
