Juvenile gangrenous vasculitis of the scrotum: A rare cause of genital ulcer.

Juvenile gangrenous vasculitis of the scrotum is a rare entity of unknown aetiology which should be considered in the differential diagnosis of genital ulcers, mainly with those caused by sexually transmitted infections. The authors report a case of a 23-year-old patient who presented a single painful scrotal ulcer developing shortly after an episode of pharyngotonsillitis. The ulcer was treated with oral corticosteroids with total healing and no relapse in over two years of follow-up.

[Clinical and Laboratory Factors Associated with Prolonged Hospital Stay among Patients with Cellulitis/Erysipelas].

Introduction: Cellulitis and erysipelas represent the most frequent cause of hospitalization in the dermatology department of Santa Maria Hospital in Lisbon, Portugal. The aim of this study was to investigate whether patient demographics, comorbidities, previous episodes of cellulitis/erysipelas, the presence of complications, laboratory markers at admission, microbial isolation or previous use of antibiotics, are associated with prolonged stays.

Material And Methods: Retrospective analysis, including patients admitted with cellulitis/erysipelas in the inpatient dermatology department of Santa Maria Hospital between July 1st 2012 and June 30th 2017.

[Skin Diseases in Africans].

Nowadays, due to the increasingly frequent migratory circuits in Europe and the increment of the migrant population in Portugal, mainly in the Lisbon metropolitan area, it is more and more common to find several dermatological conditions and disorders in Africans seen in our health care system. There are few studies on dermatoses in these populations. It is important to know the biologic and physiologic differences of black skin in order to understand both the pathophysiology and manifestations of dermatoses.

Nonvenereal Penile Dermatoses: A Retrospective Study.

Context: A variety of nonvenereal diseases can affect the penis and diminish quality of life. Many present similar clinical features and a cutaneous biopsy may be necessary to clarify the diagnosis.
