Peri-operative chemotherapy for resectable colorectal liver metastasis: does timing of systemic therapy matter?

Background: The benefit of pre-operative chemotherapy in patients with resectable colorectal liver metastases (CRLM) remains ill defined. We sought to evaluate the impact of peri-operative systemic chemotherapy timing on outcome following resection of CRLM.

Methods: 676 patients who underwent surgery for CRLM were identified from two hepatobiliary center databases.

An ecological and economic assessment methodology for coastal ecosystem management.

An adaptation of the Drivers-Pressure-State-Impact-Response methodology is presented in this work. The differential DPSIR (DeltaDPSIR) was developed to evaluate impacts on the coastal environment and as a tool for integrated ecosystem management. The aim of the DeltaDPSIR is to provide scientifically-based information required by managers and decision-makers to evaluate previously adopted policies, as well as future response scenarios.

Assessment of eutrophication in estuaries: pressure-state-response and nitrogen source apportionment.

A eutrophication assessment method was developed as part of the National Estuarine Eutrophication Assessment (NEEA) Program. The program is designed to improve monitoring and assessment of eutrophication in the estuaries and coastal bays of the United States with the intent to guide management plans and develop analytical and research models and tools for managers. These tools will help guide and improve management success for estuaries and coastal resources.
