Psychometric properties of a Spanish translation of the Functionality Appreciation Scale (FAS) in adults from Colombia.

The 7-item Functionality Appreciation Scale (FAS) measures the extent of an individual's appreciation of their body for what it can do and is capable of doing. Although the FAS has been widely used in diverse linguistic contexts, it has not been previously translated into Spanish. Here, we examined the psychometric properties of a novel Spanish translation of the FAS in Colombian adults.

The outcome of a training programme (RESPECT) on staff's attitudes towards causes and management of aggression in a Regional Referral Hospital of northern Uganda.

WHAT IS KNOWN ON THE SUBJECT?: Health systems in many low- to middle-income countries (LMICs) are heavily underfunded, and staff training opportunities are limited. There is a lack of empirical data on the development and use of sustainable training programmes in aggression management skills in LMICs. WHAT DOES THIS PAPER ADD TO EXISTING KNOWLEDGE?: After RESPECT, participants showed greater agreement with statements about the role of environmental and relational factors as antecedents of aggression and described favouring the use of non-physical techniques to manage aggressive behaviour.
