Prognostic Role of TAPSE to PASP Ratio in Patients Undergoing MitraClip Procedure.

Background: Transcatheter mitral valve repair (TMVR) is an effective therapy for high-risk patients with severe mitral regurgitation (MR) but heart failure (HF) readmissions and death remain substantial on mid-term follow-up. Recently, right ventricular (RV) to pulmonary arterial (PA) coupling has emerged as a relevant prognostic predictor in HF. In this study, we aimed to assess the prognostic value of tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion (TAPSE) to PA systolic pressure (PASP) ratio as a non-invasive measure of RV-to-PA coupling in patients undergoing TMVR with MitraClip (Abbott, CA, USA).

Transcatheter mitral repair according to the cause of mitral regurgitation: real-life data from the Spanish MitraClip registry.

Introduction And Objectives: Transcatheter mitral valve repair (TMVR) with MitraClip is a therapeutic option for high surgical risk patients with severe mitral regurgitation (MR). The main objective of this study was to analyze differences in outcomes in patients with severe MR according to the cause of MR.

Methods: Observational, multicenter, and prospective study with consecutive patient inclusion.

Intracoronary tenecteplase versus abciximab as adjunctive treatment during primary percutaneous coronary intervention in patients with anterior myocardial infarction.

Aims: We sought to compare the effects of intracoronary administration of a fibrinolytic drug (tenecteplase) to those of a glycoprotein IIb/IIIa inhibitor (abciximab) in patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PPCI).

Methods And Results: In this pilot trial, 76 patients (59 male) with anterior STEMI were randomised to intracoronary infusion of reduced-dose tenecteplase or abciximab during PPCI. Angiography was repeated at 48 hours to assess corrected TIMI frame count (cTFC) and TIMI myocardial perfusion grade (TMPG).

Device specificity of vascular healing following implantation of bioresorbable vascular scaffolds and bioabsorbable polymer metallic drug-eluting stents in human coronary arteries: the ESTROFA OCT BVS vs. BP-DES study.

Aims: We sought to compare vascular healing with bioresorbable everolimus-eluting vascular scaffolds (BVS) and drug-eluting stents with bioabsorbable polymers (BP-DES) at six and 12 months both implanted in the same patients.

Methods And Results: This was a multicentre and prospective study including patients with at least two comparable lesions to treat. In every patient both BVS and BP-DES (SYNERGY, Orsiro or BioMatrix Flex) were implanted by lesion randomisation.

Initial experience of percutaneous treatment of mitral regurgitation with MitraClip® therapy in Spain.

Introduction And Objectives: Symptomatic mitral regurgitation has an unfavorable prognosis unless treated by surgery. However, the European registry of valvular heart disease reports that 49% of patients with this condition do not undergo surgery. Percutaneous treatment of mitral regurgitation with MitraClip® has been proved a safe, efficient adjunct to medical treatment in patients with this profile.
