Explosive strength is fundamental in the performance of athletes. The objective is to identify the criteria used for the prescription of Explosive Strength Training (EST) and to verify the changes it produces in futsal players. A systematic review of studies analyzing the criteria used for the prescription of explosive strength training was conducted in PubMed/MEDLINE and Scielo, considering the period between 2017 and 2023.

However, the literature is divergent regarding HRPF and bone health in adulthood, especially due to the end of the second and beginning of the third decades of life when the peak bone mass period occurs.
Objective: To analyze which HRPF variables are areal bone mineral density (aBMD) predictors in adult males and females.
Background: The COVID-19 pandemic necessitated rapid changes in healthcare delivery in Guatemala's public primary care settings. A new hypertension program, implemented as part of a type 2 hybrid trial since 2019, exemplifies an implementation effort amidst a changing context in an under-resourced setting. We assessed the implementation of an evidence-based intervention (EBI; protocol-based hypertension treatment) and one of its main implementation strategies (team-based collaborative care), raising implications for health equity and sustainability.

Concrete is the most used construction material, needing large quantities of Portland cement. Unfortunately, Ordinary Portland Cement production is one of the main generators of CO, which pollutes the atmosphere. Today, geopolymers are an emerging building material generated by the chemical activity of inorganic molecules without the Portland Cement addition.

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic necessitated rapid changes in the delivery of care across public primary care settings in rural Guatemala in 2020. In response, a hypertension program implemented within the public primary care system required multiple adaptations, providing an illustrative example of dynamic implementation amidst changing context in an under-resourced setting. This study describes the evolvability of an evidence-based intervention (EBI; protocol-based hypertension treatment) and one of its main implementation strategies (team-based collaborative care) during the COVID-19 pandemic and discusses implications for health equity and sustainability.

The oil extracted from its seeds is a good source of α-linolenic acid (ALA) and also provides substantial amounts of linoleic acid (LA). This study aimed to test the bioavailability of the oil derived from basil seeds and its effects on different physiological parameters using 7-15% dietary inclusion levels.

These cells typically produce a monoclonal immunoglobulin, and its symptoms arise either from plasma cell infiltration in several organs, or secondary to the presence of a monoclonal protein peak. Symptoms can be summarized by the acronym CRAB (hypercalcemia, renal failure, anemia and bone lesions).

In this context, functional extracts from Brassicaceae family contains abundant bioactive compounds directly related to a positive effect on human health including cancer. The main objective of this systematic review is to compile all recent studies that analyzed the in vitro antiproliferative activity of functional extracts or isolated molecules from the Brassicaceae family against CRC.

We made a descriptive retrospective study with the cases of reinfection in Valle del Cauca, Colombia. We found up to June 30, 3249 cases with suspected reinfection, 1.

Twelve pesticides were detected, five insecticides (chlorpyrifos, carbofuran, cypermethrin, imidacloprid, and oxamyl), four fungicides (carbendazim, imazalil, metalaxyl, and thiabendazole), and three herbicides (diuron, linuron, and terbutryn); eight of them presented risk quotients RQ >1, which implies a high risk for the environment. The water quality evaluation included fourteen physicochemical and microbiological parameters, out of which thermotolerant coliforms, nitrate, and total phosphorus exceeded a selected threshold value in every sample.

Cystatin C is a protease inhibitor produced in all nucleated cells. It is freely filtered and then catabolized by renal tubular cells.

The aim of this study is to describe the behavior of KIM-1 (Kidney Injury Molecule) and NGAL (Neutrophil Gelatinase Associated Lipocalin) as early predictors of renal damage, comparing them with serum creatinine and creatinine clearance, in neonates undergoing cardiac surgery.
Methods: Twenty-one (21) neonates, under 4 kg, with complex congenital heart diseases, RACHS-1 > 3, without preoperative renal failure, were studied.
The technique RT-qPCR for viral RNA detection is the current worldwide strategy used for early detection of the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2. RNA extraction is a key pre-analytical step in RT-qPCR, often achieved using commercial kits. However, the magnitude of the COVID-19 pandemic is causing disruptions to the global supply chains used by many diagnostic laboratories to procure the commercial kits required for RNA extraction.

Since the measurement of GFR by reference methods is complex, costly and not widely available, its routine evaluation is performed using endogenous biomarkers. Within these, creatinine is the most commonly used.

However, these new therapies, along with greater patient survival, are associated with an increase in untoward effects, particularly in the cardiovascular system.

Because of its importance, it is estimated that the blood culture is a critical test that requires close monitoring on the quality with which the process is performed. The objective of this work is to show the results of the monitoring carried out during the past three years, of 5 quality indicators of blood cultures in the laboratory of the Hospital Clínico de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, considering pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical aspects.

Background: Trichophyton mentagrophytes var. erinacei is a zoophilic dermatophyte transmitted by hedgehogs which human infections manifest as highly inflammatory and pruritic eruptions.
Methods: We report a 21-year-old woman who presented with a two-week history of a pruritic scaly erythematous plaque on the nose.
Dermatomyofibroma represents a rare benign fibroblastic/ myofibroblastic cutaneous tumor that mostly occurs in young adult women. It has been seldom reported in pediatric patients. In this analysis, the clinical, histopathological and immunohistochemical findings of 12 dermatomyofibromas occurring in patients up to 16 years of age are compared with those reported in adults.
