Objectives: The 2016 ACR-EULAR Response Criteria for JDM was developed as a composite measure with differential weights of six core set measures (CSMs) to calculate a Total Improvement Score (TIS). We assessed the contribution of each CSM, representation of muscle-related and patient-reported CSMs towards improvement, and frequency of CSM worsening across myositis response criteria (MRC) categories in validation of MRC.
Methods: Data from JDM patients in the Rituximab in Myositis trial (n = 48), PRINTO JDM trial (n = 139), and consensus patient profiles (n = 273) were included.

Background: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and periodontitis (P) are chronic inflammatory diseases characterized by joint and radiographic bone loss, respectively. IL-23 and IL-17 have an essential role in the immunopathogenesis of RA, and P. IL-23 stimulates Th17 cells through which produces IL-17, IL-21, and RANKL.

It is a complex disease that requires specialist and timely care and management. The alternatives for treating the manifestations of psoriatic arthritis have increased and the effect of the different agents on specific manifestations has been clarified in recent studies.

The lymphoid tyrosine phosphatase (Lyp) protein has significant effects on maintenance of peripheral immune tolerance. Two polymorphic variants (-1123G>C and +1858C>T) at gene that encodes this protein have been associated with autoimmune disorders and found in strong linkage disequilibrium in Caucasian population.

We aimed to compare, in a randomised trial, the efficacy and safety of prednisone alone with that of prednisone plus either methotrexate or ciclosporin in children with new-onset juvenile dermatomyositis.
Methods: We did a randomised trial at 54 centres in 22 countries.

This article aims to identify the strategies for coping with health and daily-life stressors of Mexican patients with chronic rheumatic disease. We analyzed the baseline data of a cohort of patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), ankylosing spondylitis (AS), and gout. Their strategies for coping were identified with a validated questionnaire.

Method: Thirty-two (2013) and 38 (2014) Rheumatology trainees (RTs) underwent an OSCE consisting of 12 and 15 stations respectively, scored according to a validated check-list, as well as 300-multiple-choice 300 question examination (MCQ). Previously, 3 certified rheumatologists underwent a pilot-OSCE.
Background: The cost of certain diseases may lead to catastrophic expenses and impoverishment of households without full financial support by the state and other organizations.
Objective: To determine the socioeconomic impact of the rheumatoid arthritis (RA) cost in the context of catastrophic expenses and impoverishment.
Patients And Methods: This is a cohort-nested cross-sectional multicenter study on the cost of RA in Mexican households with partial, full, or private health care coverage.
CD28 expression and serum levels are significantly increased in patients with SLE than in healthy controls (HC). Until now, there are no studies of proximal promoter polymorphisms of CD28 gene in SLE. Therefore, our objective was to investigate the polymorphisms present in the proximal promoter of CD28 in a group of SLE and HC and to associate the polymorphisms present with the CD28 serum levels of 40 patients and 40 controls.

Plasminogen activator inhibitor type 1 (PAI-1) is an inhibitor of plasmin production. Plasmin can directly or indirectly to degrade cartilage and bone matrix. The PAI-1 HindIII polymorphism has been associated with high PAI-1 plasma levels in myocardial infarction patients and control populations.

Background: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is characterized by a progressive joint damage mediated mainly by tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFalpha). We investigated the relationship of TNFalpha-308 and -238 polymorphisms with messenger RNA (mRNA) expression and soluble TNFalpha (sTNFalpha) in 50 RA and 100 healthy subjects (HS).
Methods: Clinical and laboratory assessments were performed.
Objective: To estimate the social costs of rheumatoid arthritis (RA), ankylosing spondylitis (AS), and gout from the patient's perspective.
Methods: We carried out a cross-sectional analysis of the cost and resource utilization of 690 RA, AS, and gout patients from 10 medical centers and private facilities in five cities of Mexico. The information was obtained from the baseline of a dynamic cohort.
Objective: To assess the psychometric properties of the Health Assessment Questionnaire (HAQ) disability index (DI) in patients with gout.
Methods: This study was conducted in a multicenter cohort of patients with gout whose data were collected at baseline (time 0) and 6 months later (time 6). Reliability was assessed by test-retest reliability (intraclass correlation coefficient [ICC]) and internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha coefficient).
