Chilaiditi Sign and Syndrome as a Finding in the Emergency Room: A Case Report.

The Chilaiditi sign is the presence of a loop of bowel interposed between the liver and the diaphragm. In most cases, the Chilaiditi sign is diagnosed as a rare incidental radiological finding on chest X-rays or the abdomen of asymptomatic patients. When associated with symptoms, it is named Chilaiditi syndrome.

Evaluation of the effects of pregabalin and dexamethasone coadministration on preemptive multimodal analgesia and anxiety in third molar surgeries: a triple-blind randomized clinical trial.

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of pregabalin and dexamethasone coadministration in preemptive analgesia and anxiety control in lower third molar surgery.

Materials And Methods: A triple-blind, split-mouth clinical trial conducted with patients divided into two groups: control group, receiving placebo and dexamethasone, and test group, receiving pregabalin and dexamethasone preoperatively. The evaluated variables were pain, measured by the Visual Analog Scale (VAS), anxiety assessed through the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) questionnaires, hemodynamic parameters [Blood Pressure (BP), Heart Rate (HR), Oxygen Saturation (SpO)], and sedation assessed by the Ramsay scale.

Effect of simvastatin topical use on alveolar bone after tooth extraction: a scoping review.

Objectives: Conducting a scoping review (SR) to assess scientific evidence for topical simvastatin's impact on alveolar bone regeneration and determine its level of support for clinical applications.

Materials And Methods: This SR followed the PRISMA-ScR and OSF registries protocol; systematic searching was conducted on MEDLINE/PubMed, Cochrane, Embase, Scopus, Web of Science, and LILACS, to identify relevant articles until June 2023. Inclusion criteria covered clinical trials, case series, prospective and retrospective studies, along with in vivo investigations, involving participants of any sex and age.

Annual ryegrass-associated bacteria with potential for plant growth promotion.

Annual ryegrass is a fast-growing cool-season grass broadly present in the Portuguese "montado", a typically Mediterranean agro-forestry-pastoral ecosystem. A culture-dependent approach was used to investigate natural associations of this crop with potentially beneficial bacteria, aiming to identify strains suitable for biofertilization purposes. Annual ryegrass seedlings were used to trap bacteria from three different soils in laboratory conditions.

[Factors associated with the understanding of medical prescriptions in the Unified Health System in a city in Southern Brazil].

A cross-sectional study via interviews was conducted in the city of Tubarão in the state of Santa Catarina in order to identify the association between prescription indicators and the profile of the healthcare users and their understanding of medical prescriptions among patients attended by the Unified Health System. Information was collected on the profile of the healthcare users, the prescription indicators recommended by the World Health Organization and the understanding of drug prescriptions. Three hundred subjects were interviewed and the associated factors were identified using the Chi-square test.

Identification of Sinorhizobium (Ensifer) medicae based on a specific genomic sequence unveiled by M13-PCR fingerprinting.

A collection of nodule isolates from Medicago polymorpha obtained from southern and central Portugal was evaluated by M13-PCR fingerprinting and hierarchical cluster analysis. Several genomic clusters were obtained which, by 16S rRNA gene sequencing of selected representatives, were shown to be associated with particular taxonomic groups of rhizobia and other soil bacteria. The method provided a clear separation between rhizobia and co-isolated non-symbiotic soil contaminants.

NR4A2 and schizophrenia: lack of association in a Portuguese/Brazilian study.

The present study investigates the association of mutations in the nuclear receptor NR4A2 in schizophrenic patients. The human Nur-related receptor 1, NR4A2, is an orphan nuclear receptor that can be constitutively active as a transcription factor and for which no natural ligand has yet been identified. Alone or with retinoid X receptor, RXR, NR4A2 influences the expression of several genes important for human brain development and regulation.

Family association study between DRD2 and DRD3 gene polymorphisms and schizophrenia in a Portuguese population.
