Persistent polyclonal B-cell lymphocytosis is a rare disease with chronic lymphocytosis of polyclonal origin, which is more frequent in mostly asymptomatic middle-aged female smokers. The hallmark of this entity is the presence of bilobed/binucleated B lymphocytes, which are polyclonal as demonstrated by immunophenotyping; an elevated IgM level is common. This disease shows, in most cases, an indolent course over many years and, although controversial, it may rarely convert to malignant lymphoma.

This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of live or autolyzed yeast supplementation on dairy cow performance and ruminal fermentation. Two experiments were conducted to evaluate performance, feed sorting, total-tract apparent digestibility of nutrients, purine derivatives excretion, N utilization, ruminal fermentation, and the abundance of specific bacterial groups in the rumen. In experiment 1, 39 Holstein cows (171 ± 40 DIM and 32.

Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) has become 1 of the most curable cancers. Therefore, rigorous assessment of health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and symptom burden of these patients is essential to support informed clinical decisions. The European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) Quality of Life Group previously developed the EORTC Quality of Life Questionnaire (QLQ) Hodgkin Lymphoma 27.

Background: Health-related quality of life (HRQOL) is a critical aspect to consider when making treatment decisions for patients with non-Hodgkin-lymphoma (NHL). This international study by the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) tested the psychometric properties of two newly developed measures for patients with high-grade (HG)- and low-grade (LG)-NHL: the EORTC QLQ-NHL-HG29 and the EORTC QLQ-NHL-LG20 to supplement the core questionnaire (EORTC QLQ-C30).

Methods: Overall, 768 patients with HG-NHL (N = 423) and LG-NHL (N = 345) from 12 countries completed the QLQ-C30, QLQ-NHL-HG29/QLQ-NHL-LG20 and a debriefing questionnaire at baseline, and a subset at follow-up for either retest (N = 125/124) or responsiveness to change (RCA; N = 98/49).

Myelodysplastic/myeloproliferative neoplasms (MDS/MPN) are not a single disease, but rather a heterogenous group of entities which are increasingly subclassified according to recurrent genetic abnormalities. Chromosomal translocations involving meningioma 1 () and ETS variant 6 () genes are extremely rare, but recurrent in myeloid neoplasms. We describe the case of a patient with a myelodysplastic/myeloproliferative neoplasm with neutrophilia, who developed an extramedullary T-lymphoblastic crisis with the t(12;22)(p13;q12) translocation as the only cytogenetic abnormality.

Unlabelled: Multicentric Castleman disease (MCD) represents a group of poorly understood lymphoproliferative disorders related to proinflammatory hypercytokinaemia. In immunocompetent patients the aetiology is still unknown, hence the designation of idiopathic MCD (iMCD). To successfully diagnose iMCD, diagnostic criteria must be fulfilled and a large array of alternative diagnoses excluded.

The ideal therapeutic regimen in primary mediastinal B-cell lymphoma (PMBCL) is controversial and may include consolidation radiotherapy (RT). An adequate strategy is essential in a population where long-term effects of RT are significant. We evaluated the prognostic value of end-of-treatment (EOT) FDG-PET in 50 patients receiving rituximab and anthracycline-containing chemotherapy and its implications for consolidative RT.

Autoimmune regulator (Aire) is a transcriptional regulator of peripheral tissue antigens (PTAs) and microRNAs (miRNAs) in medullary thymic epithelial cells (mTECs). In this study, we tested the hypothesis that Aire also played a role as an upstream posttranscriptional controller in these cells and that variation in its expression might be associated with changes in the interactions between miRNAs and the mRNAs encoding PTAs. We demonstrated that downregulation of Aire in the thymuses of BALB/c mice imbalanced the large-scale expression of these two RNA species and consequently their interactions.
