Paracoccidioidomycosis is a systemic mycosis caused by the fungus Paracoccidioides sp. The genital cutaneous manifestation is rare, with few reports in the literature. We report a case of a male farmer, who presented with a genital cutaneous ulcer for 2 years, without respiratory symptoms.

Background: The European Working Group on Sarcopenia in Older People (EWGSOP) recently updated the definition and diagnostic criteria to assess sarcopenia, which can result in important changes in sarcopenia prevalence in older adults.
Aim: To compare the prevalence of sarcopenia through the diagnostic criteria and definition proposed by the first (EWGSOP1) and recent (EWGSOP2) European consensus in older adults. We also aimed to evaluate which sarcopenia consensus is better associated with unfavorable health outcomes.

Purpose: To compare the International Ovarian Tumor Analysis (IOTA) simple rules, simple rules risk ultrasound models, alone or in combination with magnetic resonance (MR) score to predict malignancy in women with adnexal masses.
Methods: 171 women with adnexal masses were included from February 2014 to February 2016. 120 women had histopathological diagnosis obtained from surgery or percutaneous biopsy.
Background: Technologies and life support management have enhanced the survival of preterm infants. The immune system of newborns is immature, which contributes to the occurrence of healthcare-associated infections. The overlap of several conditions with neonatal sepsis and the difficulty of diagnosis and laboratory confirmation during this period result in a tendency to over-treat neonatal sepsis.

Background: When performing coronary angiography in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS), the anatomical extent of coronary disease usually prevails in the prognostic reasoning. It has not yet been proven if clinical data should be accounted for in risk stratification together with anatomical data.
Objective: To test the hypothesis that clinical data increment the prognostic value of anatomical data in patients with ACS.
Introduction: Sex workers (SWs) are vulnerable to HIV, hepatitis, and syphilis coinfection.
Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in Tubarão, Laguna, and Imbituba, Southern Brazil. We surveyed 147 SWs using face-to-face interviews and blood sampling for serological evaluation.
Mechanisms of leukocyte NADPH oxidase regulation remain actively investigated. We showed previously that vascular and macrophage oxidase complexes are regulated by the associated redox chaperone PDI. Here, we investigated the occurrence and possible underlying mechanisms of PDI-mediated regulation of neutrophil NADPH oxidase.

Activated carbon containing adsorbed chlorinated model substrates such as chlorobenzene, tetrachloroethylene, chloroform or 1,2-dichloropropane was treated with Fenton's reagent at room temperature resulting in a rapid consumption of the organochloro compounds. Thermogravimetric, infrared, BET surface area and MIMS adsorption studies showed that Fenton's treatment has no significant effect on the physico-chemical properties of the activated carbon.

We demonstrate that high pressure inactivates two membrane-enveloped viruses, influenza and Sindbis, by trapping the particles in a fusion-intermediate state. The pressure-induced conformational changes in Sindbis and influenza viruses were followed using intrinsic and extrinsic fluorescence spectroscopy, circular dichroism, and fusion, plaque, and hemagglutination assays.
