Granuloma annulare (GA) and cutaneous sarcoidosis show clinicopathological overlap and they are also aetiopathogenically related. Given the similarities of sarcoidal GA and sarcoidosis, and the reports of association of sarcoidal GA with systemic sarcoidosis, this diagnosis should prompt further investigation to exclude systemic involvement. Being aware of the subtle histopathological clues is of the utmost importance for an accurate diagnosis of this rare variant, but correlation with the clinical setting and use of ancillary investigations are also warranted to confidently exclude sarcoidosis.

An 81-year-old woman was admitted with a nodular cutaneous melanoma of the abdominal wall involving the umbilicus. After performing wide excision with 2 cm margin of the melanoma, umbilical reconstruction and defect closure were planned. After careful consideration, we decided to use an island pedicle flap which allowed closure of the defect and reconstruction of the umbilicus.

The Gorlin-Goltz syndrome is a rare autosomal dominant hereditary condition, with complete penetrance and variable expressivity. Characterized by the appearance of multiple basaliomas, and often the development of keratocyst, it can also express itself by the presence of palmar/plantar depressions, calcification of brain sickle, and skeletal birth defects, although less frequently. This article presents two cases involving direct relatives, referred after the identification of several basaliomas and jaw cysts.
