- A study tested 313 extracts from 136 Brazilian plant species for their ability to suppress the proliferation of human immune cells (PBMC) stimulated by phytohemagglutinin (PHA).
- Twenty extracts effectively inhibited cell proliferation in a dose-dependent manner at concentrations between 10 and 100 micrograms per milliliter.
- Specific compounds, such as myriadenolide from Alomia myriadenia and an acetylated triterpene from Gaylussacia brasiliensis, were identified in some extracts as potential contributors to their activity, with further investigations ongoing for other extracts.
