Background: The unilateral absence of a pulmonary artery (UAPA) is a very rare congenital pulmonary vascular malformation. Since the first case was reported in 1868, the overall incidence of UAPA has been at a level of 1/300,000 - 1,200,000. Isolated UAPA without other cardiac anomalies is rare.

In the post-pandemic era, interest in on-site technologies capable of rapidly and accurately diagnosing viral or bacterial pathogens has significantly increased. Advances in functional nanomaterials and bioengineering have propelled the progress of point-of-care (POC) sensors, enhancing their speed, specificity, sensitivity, affordability, ease of use, and accuracy. Notably, biosensors that utilize surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) technology have revolutionized the rapid and sensitive diagnosis of biomarkers in pathogenic infections.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) in preventing bile reflux after gastrectomy in patients with gastric cancer.
Methods: This study was a secondary analysis of the PEGASUS-D trial, a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial.
Backgrounds/aims: This meta-analysis examined whether preoperative vibration-controlled transient elastography (VCTE) can predict postoperative complications and recurrence in patients undergoing hepatic resection for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
Methods: A systematic literature search was conducted using Ovid-Medline, EMBASE, Cochrane, and KoreaMed databases. Out of 431 individual studies, thirteen published between 2008 and 2022 were included.
Root biomass and distribution are influenced by abiotic factors, such as topography and soil physicochemical properties, determining belowground productivity. Hence, we investigated the variation in root biomass and vertical root distribution based on the topography, soil physicochemical properties, and tree influence index, and their relationships, across soil depths (0-10 cm, 10-20 cm, and 20-30 cm) and topographical gradients in a warm-temperate forest in Mt. Duryun, Republic of Korea.

However, there is insufficient evidence to determine the relationships between tumor size and oncological safety of ESD in UD-EGC.
Methods: The pathology reports of Korean patients who were diagnosed with UD-EGC (n = 5286) were retrospectively reviewed.
Objective: This study aimed to investigate the association between gaming time and problematic game use (PGU) within a large sample of Korean male gamers and to examine the potential moderating effects of loneliness, living alone, and household size.
Methods: This study employed data from 743 male gamers from the National Mental Health Survey 2021, a nationally representative survey of mental illness conducted in South Korea. Self-reported data on the average gaming time per day, severity of PGU, loneliness, living alone, and household size were used.
The subtype diagnosis and severity classification of mood disorder have been made through the judgment of verified assistance tools and psychiatrists. Recently, however, many studies have been conducted using biomarker data collected from subjects to assist in diagnosis, and most studies use heart rate variability (HRV) data collected to understand the balance of the autonomic nervous system on statistical analysis methods to perform classification through statistical analysis. In this research, three mood disorder severity or subtype classification algorithms are presented through multimodal analysis of data on the collected heart-related data variables and hidden features from the variables of time and frequency domain of HRV.

However, little is known about how these shifts affect soil and fine-root compartments that are critical to a functioning carbon and nutrient circulation system. In this study, soil physicochemical properties, fine-root mass, and vertical distribution patterns were investigated in four representative urban land-use types: grassland (ZJ), perennial agroecosystem (MP), broadleaf deciduous forest patch (QA), and coniferous evergreen forest patch (PD).

Thus, we determined the 10-year effects (2007-2017) of different thinning intensities on litterfall production, soil chemical properties, and fine root biomass and necromass within a plantation in South Korea. The soil chemical parameters and fine root biomass and necromass were also compared across three soil depths (0-10, 10-20, and 20-30 cm).

Depression often precedes PD but whether PA also would reduce the risk of PD in patients with depression has not been known. The aim of study is to examine the association of regular PA with risk of PD among patients with depressive disorder.

While classical test theory is often used in tinnitus questionnaire development, it has limitations in assessing item characteristics. Item response theory (IRT) offers more precise individual ability estimations and identifies key and less important items, making it superior for reliable measurement tools.

The purpose of our study was to evaluate the performance of a deep learning (DL)-based artificial intelligence (AI) system for detecting ETT presence and position on chest radiographs in three patient samples from two different institutions. This retrospective study included 539 chest radiographs obtained immediately after ETT insertion from January 1 to March 31, 2020, in 505 patients (293 men, 212 women; mean age, 63 years) from institution A (sample A); 637 chest radiographs obtained from January 1 to January 3, 2020, in 302 patients (157 men, 145 women; mean age, 66 years) in the ICU (with or without an ETT) from institution A (sample B); and 546 chest radiographs obtained from January 1 to January 20, 2020, in 83 patients (54 men, 29 women; mean age, 70 years) in the ICU (with or without an ETT) from institution B (sample C).

This research aimed to investigate the association between METv and depressive disorder in patients with type 2 DM.
Methods: The study involved a nationwide cohort of 1,119,631 type 2 DM patients who had undergone three or more serial health examinations between 2005 and 2012.
Diabetes is a prevalent and debilitating metabolic disorder affecting a large population worldwide. The condition is characterized by insulin resistance and impaired function of pancreatic β-cells, leading to elevated blood glucose levels. In this study, the antidiabetic effects of extract (EAE) on zebrafish with damaged pancreatic islets caused by insulin resistance were investigated.

Hence, in this retrospective study, we evaluated the survival benefit of MJLN dissection and prognostic significance of MJLN metastasis in RGC patients who underwent gastrojejunostomy reconstruction after their initial gastrectomy.
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 391 patients who underwent surgery for RGC at our institution between 1996 and 2019.
