Objectives: We aimed to investigate the associations between air pollutants and the risk of admission and multiple readmission events for cardiovascular disease (CVD).

Methods: A total of 285 009 participants free of CVD at baseline from the UK Biobank were included in this analysis. Four major cardiovascular admission events were identified during the follow-up: chronic ischaemic heart disease (CIHD), cerebrovascular disease, atrial fibrillation and heart failure.

Article Synopsis
  • The study found that a higher dietary diversity score (DDS) and a lower energy-adjusted dietary inflammatory index (E-DII) are linked to reduced risks of developing type 2 diabetes (T2D) and overall mortality.
  • Participants from the UK Biobank and US NHANES were analyzed, revealing significant associations where higher DDS correlated with lower rates of all-cause mortality and new T2D cases.
  • No interactive effects between DDS and E-DII were found, and the research concluded that better dietary patterns can potentially lead to better health outcomes for adults.
