There are very few published cases of total anterior staphyloma, all of which have been reported as secondary to fungal keratitis. This study reports the clinical and histopathological findings and subsequent management of a 27-year-old healthy female patient who developed total anterior staphyloma after poor compliance with treatment for clinically diagnosed acanthamoeba keratitis. She underwent a successful evisceration with good long-term results.

Background And Objective: To assess the refractive outcomes in patients who underwent combined phacovitrectomy for retinal detachment compared to phacoemulsification and intraocular lens (IOL) implant utilizing newer swept-source optical-coherence-tomography (SS-OCT) biometry and determine the requirement of an adjustment factor for superior predicted refractive outcomes.
Patients And Methods: Retrospective study of 95 eyes: 52 eyes that underwent phacovitrectomy and 43 eyes with phacoemulsification only that served as the control group. Mean refractive error (ME) and mean absolute error (MAE) were used to compare the groups.
Purpose: To compare refractive outcomes and accuracy of modern optical biometry, swept-source optical coherence tomography, ultrasound biometry, and effect of the macula status in rhegmatogenous retinal detachment managed with either combined phacovitrectomy or sequential vitrectomy and cataract surgery compared with a control, phacoemulsification alone.
Methods: Retrospective, comparative, consecutive study of 154 eyes; Group 1 underwent phacovitrectomy (n: 70), Group 2 underwent vitrectomy with subsequent cataract surgery (n: 41), and Group 3 underwent cataract surgery alone (n: 43).
Results: No difference in the mean absolute error was found between Group 2 (0.
Gonioscopy-assisted transluminal trabeculotomy (GATT) is a minimally invasive ab interno procedure, performed with guidance of an illuminating microcatheter device (iTrack). The pathophysiology of raised intraocular pressure (IOP) in uveitic glaucoma is commonly due to increased resistance at the trabecular meshwork-Schlemm canal. By removing this resistance, GATT can potentially control the IOP.

A new antigen-based immunoassay test (AdenoPlus; Rapid Pathogen Screening Inc, Sarasota, Fla.) is commercially available as an alternative diagnostic test.

In ENT, adductor and abductor (ABSD) spasmodic dysphonia are often treated with BTX-A injections into the respective overacting vocal cord muscles. We describe a 53-year old male with Parkinson's disease who did not respond to BTX-A injections to either the lacrimal gland, for epiphora secondary to Parkinsonian-related blink lagophthalmos, or posterior cricoarytenoid (PCA) muscles for ABSD.

We describe a case of unilateral isolated extraocular muscle enlargement in a patient with CLL. An incisional biopsy was performed from the left medial rectus muscle and histology revealed a lymphocytic infiltrate suggestive of CLL.

We illustrate the unilateral nature of this case and demonstrate the caveats of performing myogenic ptosis correction in such patients. We also discuss the differential diagnosis of false positive AchRA, a test commonly performed in the investigation of ptosis.

Methods: In this consecutive, cross-sectional, observational study, patients with either DME or BRVO underwent measurements for best-corrected visual acuity, microperimetry, and spectral domain optical coherence tomography. Retinal thickness and sensitivity were measured using Optos Spectral optical coherence tomography/scanning laser ophthalmoscopy (Optos plc, Dunfermline, Scotland, United Kingdom).
Purpose: To describe a surgical technique in which a suture, instead of forceps, is used to improve access for the introduction of scissors and more easily achieve an appropriately-sized punctoplasty.
Materials And Methods: In this technique, a new modification of the 2-snip punctoplasty, a 6-0 polyglactin 910 suture is passed through the posterior wall of the punctum to apply traction. A video of the technique is provided.
Purpose: Guidelines from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) in the UK state that patients with bilateral glaucomatous visual field defects must stop driving unless confirmed able to meet minimum visual field requirements. Guidelines from the Royal College of Ophthalmologists state that ophthalmologists must consider driving status in every consultation, provide appropriate information if visual problems may affect driving and document any advice that has been given. The authors aimed to investigate whether in glaucoma clinics: (1) driving status is being documented, (2) appropriate patients have been advised to inform DVLA and (3) there is documentation that this advice was provided.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the structural-functional correlation in a cohort of patients with DME and to assess whether the central four retinal points on microperimetry (MP4) could be used as a potentially faster and more reliable method of assessing retinal function in patients with DME than reading speed.
Methods: The study was performed on patients with clinically significant DME.
The aim of this study was to compare measurements of macular thickness, obtained from patients with diabetic macular edema, using two spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) devices. These were the Spectralis Heidelberg Retina Angiograph + Optical Coherence Tomography (HRA + OCT) (Heidelberg Engineering), which is often considered the gold-standard for OCT measurement, and the Spectral Optical Coherence Tomography/Scanning Laser Ophthalmoscopy (OCT/SLO) (Optos plc), which can additionally perform microperimetry, a useful measure of visual function. In this prospective observational study, each eye had SD-OCT performed with both devices on the same day by the same investigator.
