A growing trend in understanding human health involves looking at the bigger picture by examining all potential environmental exposures that may cause health risks, with a particular focus on dietary intake of anthropogenic chemicals. This study investigated the presence of pesticide residues in honey and pollen samples collected randomly from ten locations in four agricultural governorates during the spring season of 2023 in the Nile Delta, Egypt. A QuEChERS extraction was employed for sample preparation before GC-MS analysis for pesticide residues.

Introduction As part of the Milestones Initiative of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), residents in neurosurgery are expected to participate in either clinical research or basic science research. Therefore, each neurosurgical training program must offer the support and opportunity to achieve this goal. In 2012, a structured effort to promote a resident culture of research was introduced into the authors' neurosurgery residency training curriculum.

Background: Phlebotomus papatasi is considered the primary vector of Leishmania major parasites that cause zoonotic cutaneous leishmaniasis (ZCL) in the Middle East and North Africa. Phlebotomus papatasi populations have been studied extensively, revealing the existence of different genetic populations and subpopulations over its large distribution range. Genetic diversity and population structure analysis using transcriptome microsatellite markers is important to uncover the vector distribution dynamics, essential for controlling ZCL in endemic areas.

Background: COVID-19 is a highly contagious virus that causes pneumonia, which quickly progresses to acute respiratory distress. In the case of COVID-19, physiotherapy is critical in non-invasive support management, postural changes, chest physiotherapy (CPT), and bed mobility. This study aims to look into the effects of physiotherapy intervention on functional outcome levels in COVID-19 patients in the acute stage.

Objective: To assess the impact of range of motion changes before and after Mulligan mobilisation with ankle movement interventions on the daily lives of children with diplegic cerebral palsy.

Methods: The single blind randomised controlled study was conducted from July 30, 2022, to January 10, 2023, at 3 rehabilitation centres in Hebron, Palestine, after approval from the ethics review committee of Eastern Mediterranean University, Northern Cyprus, and comprised children with cerebral palsy, who were randomised into intervention group IG and control group CG. All the subjects received regular physiotherapy sessions, overseen by their parents, while those in group IG received mobilisation with ankle movement treatment 3 times per week for 4 weeks.

The ID10 beamline of the SESAME (Synchrotron-light for Experimental Science and Applications in the Middle East) synchrotron light source in Jordan was inaugurated in June 2023 and is now open to scientific users. The beamline, which was designed and installed within the European Horizon 2020 project BEAmline for Tomography at SESAME (BEATS), provides full-field X-ray radiography and microtomography imaging with monochromatic or polychromatic X-rays up to photon energies of 100 keV. The photon source generated by a 2.

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic inflammatory disease that can affect the heart, lungs, and other organs. We describe the case of a 36-year-old female patient who first presented with non-specific symptoms before receiving a diagnosis of SLE, along with initial evidence of pleural effusion and cardiac tamponade. Heart tamponade, which is characterized by fluid accumulation in the pericardial space, is an unusual but serious side effect of SLE.

Background: The management of invasive intraductal papillary mucinous cystic neoplasm (I-IPMN) does not differ from de novo pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC); however, I-IPMNs are debated to have better prognosis. Despite being managed similarly to PDAC, no data are available on the response of I-IPMN to neoadjuvant chemotherapy.

Methods: All patients undergoing pancreatic resection for a pancreatic adenocarcinoma from 2011 to 2022 were included.

Introduction: Our main aim is to understand to what extent Bedouins, internally displaced Palestinians (refugees) and majority-group members (non-refugees, non-Bedouins, settled) in the West Bank prioritize COVID-19 booster shots for their own group over other groups.

Methods: We conducted a survey experiment (face-to-face) among 678 Palestinians living in the West Bank. Participants randomly received a description of an older man (Bedouin, refugee, settled) and were asked to indicate to what extent this person should be prioritized for the booster shot.

Low-power wide area network (LPWAN) technologies such as IQRF are becoming increasingly popular for a variety of Internet of Things (IoT) applications, including smart cities, industrial control, and home automation. However, LPWANs are vulnerable to cyber attacks that can disrupt the normal operation of the network or compromise sensitive information. Therefore, analyzing cybersecurity risks before deploying an LPWAN is essential, as it helps identify potential vulnerabilities and threats as well as allowing for proactive measures to be taken to secure the network and protect against potential attacks.

  • Trauma in pregnancy is a major cause of maternal death, affecting 5%-7% of pregnancies, and this review aims to guide surgeons in managing these cases through evidence-based recommendations.
  • The review analyzed 45 studies, concluding that minimally injured pregnant patients should be monitored for at least 4 hours, and CT scans are safe to detect injuries.
  • Key recommendations include performing perimortem cesarean sections immediately after maternal cardiac arrest, administering tranexamic acid to bleeding trauma patients, and conducting further research on laboratory tests like the Kleihauer-Betke test.

Background: Pregnant women and men with pregnant partners experience variations in quality of life (QoL) during pregnancy, a period characterized by physical, psychological, and social changes. Pregnancy is associated with reduced QoL, depressive symptoms, and sleep problems. This study aimed to: (1) determine whether Norwegian pregnant women and men with pregnant partners differed in QoL levels in the third trimester of pregnancy; (2) determine whether the relationship between perception of sleep and QoL is moderated by depressive symptoms, when analyzed separately in pregnant women and men with pregnant partners; and (3) determine whether selected possible predictive factors were associated with QoL when stratified by level of depressive symptoms, in pregnant women and men with pregnant partners separately.
