Ki-67 is a histological marker indicating cancer aggressiveness, while tryptophan (TRP) depletion modulates immune responses, including tumor aggressiveness. The study evaluates Ki-67's predictive value in relation to plasma TRP levels in invasive ductal carcinoma of breast cancer, aiming to improve understanding of tumor characteristics and clinical behavior. A study involving 165 women, measured plasma TRP levels and Ki-67 and analyzed their relationship with tumor aggressiveness markers using statistical analyses and predictive models.

Article Synopsis
  • * The fetus showed various abnormalities including fetal akinesia, microlissencephaly, hydranencephaly, and DWM, which were confirmed through MRI and autopsy.
  • * Neuropathological findings revealed brain calcifications and neuronal degeneration, suggesting that DWM can be effectively diagnosed via ultrasound in relation to type III lissencephaly.

Femoral-facial syndrome (FFS) is a congenital disorder, characterized by facial dysmorphism and femoral hypoplasia. We describe the prenatal ultrasound and autopsy findings of FFS in 2 female fetuses born to diabetic mothers. Prenatal ultrasound showed micrognathia, low-set dysplastic ears and very short femora.

Widely used numerical models of solute transport processes in subsurface aquifers are limited to nonlocally refined rectangular, or logically rectangular, structured grids. This presents an unsuitable option to efficient numerical simulations maintaining an acceptable level of accuracy. Optimal selection of locally refined cells for efficient solute transport models is challenging to the current generation of numerical models.

Prenatal diagnosis of neonatal hemochromatosis (NH) is usually raised in front of fetal hepatomegaly and heterogeneous liver architecture. We describe a novel sonographic feature that may be associated with NH. Ultrasound demonstrated reticulonodular liver and distended gallbladder with multiple gallstones in a hydropic fetus.

Multifocal tuberculosis (TB) is rare. It occurs especially in immunocompromised patients. Association with skin involvement is rarer, and few cases are reported in the literature.

Although epidemiological evidence suggests a human genetic basis of pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB) susceptibility, the identification of specific genes and alleles influencing PTB risk has proven to be difficult. Previous genome-wide association (GWA) studies have identified only three novel loci with modest effect sizes in sub-Saharan African and Russian populations. We performed a GWA study of 550,352 autosomal SNPs in a family-based discovery Moroccan sample (on the full population and on the subset with PTB diagnosis at <25 years), which identified 143 SNPs with p < 1 × 10(-4).

Background: Vulval involvement is an uncommon extraintestinal manifestation of Crohn's disease, and it is very rare in children. Patients with vulval CD typically present with erythema and edema of the labia majora, which can progresses to extensive ulcer formation. Vulval CD can appear before or after intestinal problems or it may occur simultaneously.

Background: Anterior cervical hypertrichosis is a rare and little-known form of congenital localized hypertrichosis. It is characterized by the presence of a tuft of terminal hairs in the anterior cervical region. We report four typical clinical observations of this condition.

Cutaneous leukocytoclastic vasculitis (CLV) is an inflammatory vascular disorder rarely reported to be associated with tuberculosis. The following report describes the case of a young man with multifocal tuberculosis revealed by CLV. Diagnosis was confirmed by the presence of tuberculoid granuloma with caseous necrosis on pleural and perianal biopsy, and a rapid improvement in anti-tuberculous quadritherapy.

Acral melanoma represents 3 to 15% of all cutaneous melanoma. In Morocco, this location is predominant. Through our study, we intend to analyze the therapeutic aspects of acral melanoma, while focusing on the epidemiological, clinical, pathological and prognostic profile of acral melanoma cases listed in osteoarticular surgery department of the CHU Hassan II of Fez in the period from January 2009 to December 2012.

Land use changes and the intensification of agriculture since the 1950s have resulted in a deterioration of groundwater quality in many European countries. For the protection of groundwater quality, it is necessary to (1) assess the current groundwater quality status, (2) detect changes or trends in groundwater quality, (3) assess the threat of deterioration and (4) predict future changes in groundwater quality. A variety of approaches and tools can be used to detect and extrapolate trends in groundwater quality, ranging from simple linear statistics to distributed 3D groundwater contaminant transport models.
