Use of artificial intelligence for nonlinear benchmarking of surgical care.

Background: Existent methodologies for benchmarking the quality of surgical care are linear and fail to capture the complex interactions of preoperative variables. We sought to leverage novel nonlinear artificial intelligence methodologies to benchmark emergency surgical care.

Methods: Using a nonlinear but interpretable artificial intelligence methodology called optimal classification trees, first, the overall observed mortality rate at the index hospital's emergency surgery population (index cohort) was compared to the risk-adjusted expected mortality rate calculated by the optimal classification trees from the American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program database (benchmark cohort).

Large Desmoid Tumor of the Pancreas: A Report of a Rare Case and Review of the Literature.

BACKGROUND Desmoid tumor (DT), also known as aggressive fibromatosis or desmoid-type fibromatosis, is a rare disease. Due to the importance of sexual health for each individual and in order to ensure optimal and quality care, we have assessed the demand for sexual health and advise not only among cancer patients but also among professionals in this area and nursing staff. Long-Term Survival with Regorafenib in -Mutated Metastatic Rectal Cancer.

Regorafenib, an oral multikinase inhibitor, was approved in September 2012 by the US Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of patients with metastatic colorectal cancer progressing on standard therapies. Here, we describe the clinical history of a 63-year-old male patient who was treated with regorafenib in the pivotal CORRECT trial. In 2014, Geneva University Hospital has opened the first certified prostate cancer Center of western Switzerland. It incorporates 29 entities implicated in the diagnosis and treatment of this disease, thereby assuring that all available ressources are made available to patients, regardless of the division to which they were initially referred. The use of a decremental dose regimen in patients treated with a chronic low-dose step-up protocol for WHO Group II anovulation: a prospective randomized multicentre study.

Background: In women with chronic anovulation, the choice of the FSH starting dose and the modality of subsequent dose adjustments are critical in controlling the risk of overstimulation. The aim of this prospective randomized study was to assess the efficacy and safety of a decremental FSH dose regimen applied once the leading follicle was 10-13 mm in diameter in women treated for WHO Group II anovulation according to a chronic low-dose (CLD; 75 IU FSH for 14 days with 37.5 IU increment) step-up protocol.

[HIV virus detection in ejaculates collected at different times in seropositive patients].
