Acute Heart Failure and Coronary Blood Flow in ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction Patients Undergoing Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention: An Observational Cohort Study.

Background and objective The Global Registry of Acute Coronary Events (GRACE) study showed poor outcomes in ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients with acute heart failure (AHF) at hospital admission in terms of increased in-hospital and six-month mortality and readmission rates. In this study, we aimed to examine the effects of AHF at the time of admission on the coronary thrombus burden and post-primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PPCI) coronary flow among STEMI patients. Methods We conducted a cohort study involving 210 consecutive STEMI patients who presented to a single PPCI centre between June 2016 and January 2017.

Very long versus overlapping drug eluting stents for the management of long coronary artery lesions.

Background: The prevalence of long diffuse coronary artery disease (CAD) is increasing nowadays due to increase prevalence of multiple risk factors and population ageing. We aimed in our study to show the differences clinically or angiographically (guided by IVUS) between the use of single long stent versus overlapping stents in very long coronary lesions (≥40 mm) in patients presented with chronic coronary syndromes.

Methods: 550 patients presenting with chronic coronary syndromes were included: 320 treated with a single long stent (≥40 mm) and 230 patients with two or more overlapping stents.

Guillain-Barré syndrome following different COVID-19 vaccines: a case series.

Background: The COVID-19 vaccine-related Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) has been described for both messenger-RNA vaccine and adenovirus-vectored types in a few cases with great public concern and the necessity to inform physicians about the variations of its presentations given its life-threatening consequences.

Case Presentation: This case series highlighted the presentation with GBS following different COVID-19 vaccinations in seven cases with ages ranging from 29 to 59 years. Three patients received the AstraZeneca vaccine, two received the Pfizer vaccine, one received Sinopharm, and one received the Janssen vaccine.

Purpose: We present multimodal imaging of an interesting case of a 78-year-old man who developed large ciliochoroidal detachments and macular subretinal and intraretinal fluid in the right eye following bilateral neodymium-doped yttrium aluminium garnet (Nd:YAG) laser peripheral iridotomies (LPIs).

Observations: The ciliochoroidal detachments developed in the absence of documented post-procedure hypotony or intraocular pressure fluctuation. Ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM) confirmed serous ciliochoroidal detachment.
