Article Synopsis
  • Researchers developed a new Z-scheme photocatalyst by combining C-MoS sheets with TiO nanocrystals to enhance pollutant degradation efficiency.
  • This catalyst achieved an impressive 99% degradation rate of methylene blue in just 60 minutes under simulated solar light, with effectiveness also noted for other pollutants like Rhodamine B and tetracycline.
  • The study highlights the role of C-MoS as an electron mediator and the benefits of semiconductor coupling for improving light absorption and charge transfer, significantly boosting the photocatalytic performance compared to existing methods.

The continual increase in energy demand and inconsistent supply have attracted attention towards sustainable energy storage/conversion devices, such as electrochemical capacitors with high energy densities and power densities. Perovskite oxides have received significant attention as anion-intercalation electrode materials for electrochemical capacitors. In this study, hollow nanospheres of non-stoichiometric cubic perovskite fluorides, KNiCoF (x = 0.

Nanoparticles of tungsten oxide (WO) and zinc oxide (ZnO) enriched polyethylene sebacate (PES) nanocomposites were prepared through the coprecipitation process and condensation polymerization reaction. The obtained nano-sized particles of WO and ZnO, PES, and nanocomposites (WO-PES NC and ZnO-PES NC) were investigated. The average molecular weight of the cured PES was measured by employing the gel permeation chromatography (GPC) technique.

Two types of chitosan-based composites (chitosan/ZnO and chitosan/Ce-ZnO composites) were synthesized under microwave irradiation and characterized as advanced catalysts of enhanced photocatalytic activity under the visible light. The morphological investigation reflected the formation of ZnO and Ce doped ZnO at stunning micro flowers of nano limps. Additionally, the optical studies reflected a reduction in the bandgap of ZnO from 3.

Zinc ferrite and graphene composites have attracted considerable attention in wastewater treatment. In this work, a magnetically separable mesoporous composite of ZnFeO nanoparticles (NPs) and reduced graphene oxide (rGO) was prepared through a simple and eco-friendly method with pure water as solvent and without the need for subsequent thermal treatment. Uniformly dispersed ZnFeO NPs on the surface of rGO sheets exhibited good crystallinity and a large BET specific surface area.
