Here, we describe the applicability of a variety of functionalized magnetic beads (MBs) for DNA extraction under different lysis conditions. Various MBs, including hydroxyl, carboxylic, amino, chitosan-modified, and streptomycin-modified MBs (MBs-STR), were compared based on their extracted DNA quantity and quality. The results presented that the MBs exhibited different DNA adsorption capacities under specific conditions.

Its potential liver and lung toxicity often limits its clinical effectiveness. We conducted this study to demonstrate the possible protective impacts of a natural galectin-3 (Gal-3) inhibitor, modified citrus pectin (MCP), against MTX-induced liver and lung toxicity and verify the potential signaling pathways of these suggested effects.

Therapies based on bioactive peptides have been recognized as an innovative and promising alternative method for dangerous diseases such as cancer. Indeed, there has been enormous interest in nutraceuticals and bioactive-based chemopreventive molecules as a potential opportunity to manage chronic diseases, including cancer at different stages, rather than the traditionally used therapies.

Chronic inflammatory bowel disorders (IBDs) are characterized by altered intestinal permeability, prompting inflammatory, oxidative stress, and immunological factors. Gut microbiota disorders impact brain function via the bidirectional gut-brain axis, influencing behavior through inflammatory cascades, oxidative stress, and neurotransmitter levels. This study highlights the potential effect of integrating lyophilized milk kefir alone and lyophilized milk kefir as solid carriers loaded with a self-nanoemulsifying self-nanosuspension (SNESNS) of licorice extract on an induced chronic IBD-like model in rats.

The present work aimed to evaluate whether (Tt) administered for 15 days attenuated cognitive deficits and exhibited anxiolytic and antidepressant profiles in scopolamine-induced amnesia in zebrafish. Animals were randomly divided into six groups (eight animals per group): (1)-(3) Tt treatment groups (1, 3 and 6 mg/L), (4) control, (5) scopolamine (SCOP, 0.

Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a severe life-threatening complication of sepsis, a condition termed sepsis-induced AKI (S-AKI), with poor clinical outcomes and high mortality rates. Inflammatory and immunological responses are important variables in S-AKI.

The estrogen receptor-positive human breast adenocarcinoma cell line (MCF-7) was used for in vitro analysis. This was combined with a network pharmacology-based approach to assess the anticancer properties of Spirulina (SP) extract and understand its molecular mechanisms.

Matrix metalloproteinase 9 (MMP-9), an endopeptidase that degrades extracellular matrix, is important in the pathogenesis of IS. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the association between the SNP rs17576 in MMP-9 gene with (1) the risk and severity of acute ischemic stroke in Saudi Arab individuals with recent acute coronary syndrome, and (2) the risk of acute coronary syndrome in Saudi Arab individuals without ischemic stroke.

Increased oxidative stress and the activation of inflammatory mediators play outstanding roles in the development of DOX-induced kidney damage. This study aimed to investigate whether the two pathways of incretin-based therapy, glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist (presented as semaglutide, SEM) and dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitor (presented as alogliptin, ALO), differentially protect against DOX-induced nephrotoxicity in rats and to clarify the underlying molecular mechanisms.

Consequently, reducing its toxicity becomes necessary. In this study, a selective phosphodiesterase-3 inhibitor, cilostazol, which is used to treat intermittent claudication, was examined for its ability to abrogate cisplatin-induced testicular toxicity.

Diagnosis often occurs in the advanced stages, confining patients to systemic therapies such as sorafenib. Sorafenib (SB), a multi-kinase inhibitor, has not yet demonstrated sufficient efficacy against advanced HCC.

The identification of the hallmarks of cancer is a major milestone in understanding the mechanisms that drive cancer initiation, development, and progression. In the past, the hallmarks of cancer have been targeted to effectively treat various types of cancers.

Cisplatin (CIS) is a broad-spectrum anti-carcinogen that causes cytotoxic effects both in normal and cancer cells. The purpose of this study was to test whether Hibiscus sabdariffa (HS) extract can reduce CIS-induced hepatotoxicity in rodents and to assess its anticancer activity in vitro. Treatment with HS extract at daily doses of 500 mg/kg before and after a single dose of CIS (10 mg/kg) reduced hepatotoxicity in Wistar male albino rats.

This is due to many reasons, including limitations of available drugs, late diagnosis due to the overlapping symptoms with many other liver diseases, and lack of effective screening modalities. Compared to conventional chemotherapy, targeted drug delivery systems are advantageous in many ways, as they minimize drug resistance and improve therapeutic value for cancer patients.

Mpox has been a concern of public health and travel caution. Using databases of WHO, CDC, google scholar, and PubMed, we searched recent literatures and reviewed the history, genomic mutation/evolution, host cell response pathways, regulation policy, vaccine and therapy development. Recent studies showed that current mpox has many genomic mutations related to regulation by APOBEC3.
