Unlabelled: Background there is a need for novel biomarkers and targeting therapies for predicting Endometrial carcinoma (EC) progression and recurrence. TMEFF2 is a gene that was found to play a role in EMT. SMOC-2 is expressed in embryogenesis and it was identified as a recent stem cell-related gene that has a role in cancer progression.

Ovarian malignancy is diagnosed in nearly a fourth of a million women internationally every year. Methylation of RASSF1A tumor suppressor gene prompts its inactivation in diseases. In this study, the RASSF1A promoter methylation was detected by methylated-specific PCR and investigated serum RASSF1A protein level through enzyme-linked immunosorbant assay in 160 Egyptian patients with ovarian cancer and 160 healthy controls.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focused on finding out how certain gene variations (polymorphisms) are linked to recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL) in obese and lean Egyptian women.
  • Researchers looked at 120 women with RPL and 120 healthy women, using tests to analyze specific gene polymorphisms and measure levels of IL-17 and leptin in their blood.
  • Findings revealed that one gene variant (IL-17 F rs763780) reduces the risk of RPL, while two others (IL-17 A rs2275913 and leptin 2548 G/A) increase the risk; both IL-17 and leptin levels were higher in women experiencing RPL, especially among those who were obese.

The pathophysiology of COX-2 expression in endometriosis is a matter of debate. The aim was to investigate the role of DNA methylation of the NF-IL6 site within the promoter of COX-2 gene in the pathogenesis of endometriosis. The endometrial tissues (ectopic and eutopic) were collected from 60 women with endometriosis and 30 women without endometriosis (control group).
