Objectives: The objective of this study is to assess the concordance and its association with sociocultural background of a four-question survey with accelerometry in a multiethnic adolescent population, regarding sleep components. Based on questions from the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index and adapted to a school context, the questionnaire focussed on estimating sleep onset time, wake-up time and sleep duration on both weekdays and weekends. This subjective survey was compared with accelerometry data while also considering the influence of sociocultural factors (sex, place of living, ethnic community and socio-economic status).

Australian providers of mental health services and support for young people include private and public allied health providers, government initiatives (eg, headspace), nongovernment organizations (eg, Kids Helpline), general practitioners (GPs), and the hospital system. Over 20 years of research has established that many young people prefer to seek mental health support online; however, clear client pathways within and between online and offline mental health services are currently lacking. The authors propose a Digital Mental Health Practice model of care for youth to assist with digital mental health service mapping.

Social media and health research have covered the benefits for the public and patients as users. Specifically, this has focused on searching for health information, connecting with others experiencing similar health issues, and communicating with their health professionals. Recently, there has been a shift in research to focus on health care professionals as users as they participate in professional development, improve communication with patients, and contribute to health research and service.

Online communities in health care are well established as technologies for facilitating interactions between patients with common conditions and communication between patients and health professionals. Less well known is how health professionals use these platforms to connect with their peers, particularly for interprofessional education or support. We present early results from our exploratory international mixed methods (survey and interview) study of health professionals' experience of engaging with online communities for interprofessional peer education.

Video gaming is a popular pastime for young males, having been shown to have both positive and negative effects on players' mental health. The aim of the current study was to ascertain the rate that male video gamers may seek mental health support for mental ill-health generally. The secondary aims were to (a) identify the most prolific barriers to seeking help; (b) determine how confident this group is to seek help; and (c) whether the variance in help-seeking efficacy be explained, in part, by age, hours gamed, self-esteem, and social capital.

Digital mental health services are becoming increasingly valuable for addressing the global public health burden of mental ill-health. There is significant demand for scalable and effective web-based mental health services. Artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to improve mental health through the deployment of chatbots.

Young men's mental health is at the forefront of global public health concerns. Young males, who have a high incidence of mental health disorders, are a population that accesses services at lower rates than females and makes up the majority of videogame players. By considering the unique perspectives of digitally connected individuals on mental health service delivery, interventions may be designed to address their needs with a higher likelihood of success.

Introduction: Poorly designed electronic medication management systems (EMMS) or computerized physician order entry (CPOE) systems in hospital settings can result in usability issues and in turn, patient safety risks. As a safety science, human factors and safety analysis methods have potential to support the safe and usable design of EMMS.

Objective: To identify and describe human factors and safety analysis methods that have been used in the design or redesign of EMMS used in hospital settings.

There is a growing need for high-quality evidence to support the efficacy of online counseling and peer support via social networking sites (SNSs) as an intervention to reduce mental health symptoms in young people. This article presents Phase 2 of Kids Helpline (KHL) Circles, which used mixed methods to assess the acceptability, safety, user experience, and mental health benefits of a purpose-built, counselor-facilitated SNS. Young people aged 13-25 years ( = 552) were recruited to participate in one of six 8-week "Circles.

Since Myanmar's transition to civilian rule in 2011, the use of smartphones has exploded. The ubiquitous use of social media, in particular Facebook, has had a well-publicized dark side as a platform for disseminating fake news and hate speech. With poor digital literacy skills, Myanmar users are susceptible to disinformation campaigns and other online dangers, particularly young people, the most prevalent users.

Background: It has often been reported that young people are at high risk of mental health concerns, more so than at any other time in development over their life span. The situational factors that young people report as impacting their well-being are not addressed as often: specifically, family discord. Kids Helpline, a national service in Australia that provides free counseling online and by telephone to young people in distress, report that family discord and well-being issues are one of the major concerns reported by clients.

Social networking site (SNS) use has been shown to predict both positive and negative well-being. These discrepant findings may be explained by people's motivations for and frequency of using SNSs. This study aimed to explore how frequency of online interactions can be affected by users' motives, specifically, being motivated by a sense of belonging, and possible perceived social support derived from the popular image-based SNS, Instagram.

As neonatal endotracheal intubation (ETI) is a low-frequency, high-consequence event, it is essential that providers have access to resources to aid in ETI. We sought to determine the impact of video laryngoscopy (VL) with just-in-time training on intubation outcomes over direct laryngoscopy (DL) when performed by neonatal nurses. We conducted a prospective, randomized, crossover study with neonatal nurses employed at a level 2 neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).

Facebook has been used in health research, but there is a lack of literature regarding how Facebook may be used to recruit younger adolescents. A Facebook Page was created for an adolescent cohort study on the effects of puberty hormones on well-being and behaviour in early adolescence. Used as a communication tool with existing participants, it also aimed to alert potential participants to the study.

Background: Researchers are increasingly using social media to recruit participants to surveys and clinical studies. However, the evidence of the efficacy and validity of adolescent recruitment through Facebook is yet to be established.

Objective: To conduct a systematic review of the literature on the use of Facebook to recruit adolescents for health research.

Fracture dislocations of the cunei-navicular joints are a very rare type of intertarsal dislocation and most people are probably unfamiliar with this entity. Clinical, radiological and pathological aspects allow discrimination of such injuries from the dislocations in Lisfranc's and Chopart's articulation. We have seen one patient who was found to have a crush fracture of the cuneiforme mediale on one side and a fracture disruption with dorsal dislocation of the first and second metatarsals and of the medial and intermediate cuneiform bones on the other.

A well-documented percutaneous method in the treatment of fracture dislocations of the PIP joint, the force couple splint technique according to Agee produces good functional results in these rare injuries. This paper presents our own modification with mass-produced preconstructed couple splints, which can be combined precisely with the elements of a mini-external fixation system.

Since the pharynx and the esophagus are a functional unit, functional radiodiagnosis has to be directed at pharyngo-esophageal interaction. Among our collective of 73 patients suffering from achalasia or diffuse esophageal spasm, we were able to recognize a substantially increased incidence of morphological or functional pharyngeal disorders by means of cineradiography. The functional alterations in particular were often not revealed by conventional fluoroscopy.

With the exception of fracture dislocations following fractures of the ankle joint and talus, dislocations in the talus are very infrequent injuries. They pose a lot of management problems: soft-tissue damage in open and closed dislocations, imperfect reduction caused by osteochondral fragments, recurrent instability, and aseptic necrosis of the talus, which is greatly feared. Anatomical and prognostic criteria are included in a classification of mono-, bi- and triarticular dislocations of the talus.

Unstable fracture dislocations of the PIP-joint are difficult to manage, because the primary joint destruction and the necessity of immobilisation often result in joint stiffness and the loss of immobilisation may promote chronic subluxation. In the case described in the article we treated the unstable fracture dislocation with a dynamic transfixation with a "force couple splint" following the open reconstruction and internal fixation of the destroyed joint. The application of this dynamic transfixation allowed early active mobility exercising of the PIP-joint during bone healing and produced an excellent result.
