Thymoquinone and fluoxetine alleviate depression via attenuating oxidative damage and inflammatory markers in type-2 diabetic rats.

The study was designed to find out the effect of thymoquinone (TQ) alone and combination of TQ + fluoxetine in depression of type-2 diabetic rats. Glucose level was significantly decreased in TQ alone treated group, whereas no significant change was recorded when TQ was combined with fluoxetine. Administration of TQ alone and combination of TQ and fluoxetine significantly decreased immobility time, increased latency to immobility and increased locomotor activity.
