Background: The term noninvasive follicular tumor with papillary-like nuclear features (NIFTP) was introduced as a surrogate for noninvasive encapsulated follicular variant of papillary thyroid carcinoma with a defined set of histopathologic criteria. There are very few studies depicting the cytological cues for the diagnosis of NIFTP. The objective of the study was to determine the spectrum of cytological features in fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) smears of cases histopathologically diagnosed as NIFTP.

Specific diagnosis of adnexal tumours at fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) is challenging. In a recurrent scalp tumour, a startling array of lesions ranging from benign to malignant tumours fall into differential diagnosis. Accurate preoperative diagnosis is essential for planning management and to improve clinical outcome.

Background: Fine-needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) in salivary gland lesions is challenging for the cytopathologists due to diverse morphological pattern and overlapping morphologic features which are responsible for the pitfalls. The present study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of the Milan system in the diagnosis of salivary gland lesions and to discuss and review the morphology and diagnostic challenges in individual Milan categories.

Materials And Methods: The study was a retrospective diagnostic analytical study in the department of pathology at a tertiary care hospital attached to medical college over a duration of 2 years.

Primary follicular lymphoma (PFL) of gastrointestinal tract (GIT) is rare and account for 1%-3% of non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Within the small intestine, the PFL is more common in jejunum than in the ileum. Due to low prevalence of the disease, the clinical manifestations are not well known, and diagnosis is usually delayed leading to complications.

A 60-year-old male, diabetic presented with a soft tissue mass over the right forearm of 15 days duration. The swelling was 5 x 3 cm and a clinical diagnosis of neurofibroma was made. Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology (FNAC) was done using standard technique.

Epithelial-Myoepithelial Carcinoma (EMC) is a rare low grade epithelial malignancy of major Salivary Glands (SG). Though the histomorphology of this tumor is distinct, unusual location and clinical presentation may pose diagnostic difficulties especially when this lesion is first encountered at cytology. We report a case of 60-year-old female presenting with nasal obstruction of three months duration.

Article Synopsis
  • The study examines the effectiveness of pattern-based analysis for diagnosing salivary gland lesions and details the cytomorphology of these lesions, highlighting challenges and solutions in cytology.
  • A total of 72 salivary gland lesions were analyzed through fine-needle aspiration cytology, with results showing a focus on the parotid gland, and a notable diagnostic accuracy rate of 88.46%.
  • The conclusion emphasizes the importance of accurate cytological preoperative diagnosis and supports the routine use of the pattern-based approach in clinical practice.

Tuberculosis (TB) and cancer are two lethal diseases causing significant morbidity and mortality in developing countries like India. Co-existence of these two disease lead to diagnostic dielemma among the clinicians. Overlapping clinical manifestations lead to delay in diagnosis.

Primary laryngeal neuroendocrine carcinomas are rare neoplasms. WHO classifies them under five categories of which, the moderately differentiated neuroendocrine carcinoma is synonymous with atypical or malignant carcinoid tumour. We report a rare case of primary laryngeal neuroendocrine carcinoma with an unusual and misleading clinical presentation.

Sclerosing Peritonitis (SP) is characterized by fibrous thickening and adhesions of the peritoneum and it is encountered frequently in association with peritoneal dialysis, practolol and anticonvulsant therapy. Rarely does it present as a gynaecological complication, most commonly in conjunction with luteinized thecoma of ovary. Very rarely has sclerosing peritonitis been reported to occur with ovarian cystic teratoma and a luteinized variant of adult granulosa cell tumour, among which only one case has been reported in the English literature.

Sebaceous carcinoma (SC) is a highly aggressive malignant adnexal tumor of sebaceous gland origin, accounting for less than 1% of cutaneous. Extraocular sebaceous carcinomas are more aggressive than their ocular counterpart with a predilection for the skin of head and neck, trunk, salivary glands and extremities in decreasing order of frequency. Rippled effect literally means "gradually spreading effect".

Benign triton tumors (BTT) are very rare lesions composed of mature skeletal muscle and neural tissue. We report a case of a 14-year-old boy who presented with asymptomatic swelling of the chin over an 18-month duration which increased gradually to involve the left side of the lower lip. Clinically, a diagnosis of neurofibroma was made.
