Crafting the Future of Community-Based Medical Rehabilitation: Exploring Optimal Models for Non-Inpatient Rehabilitation Services through a Narrative Review.

Community-based medical rehabilitation encompasses diverse programs that cater to patients outside of inpatient settings, such as home rehabilitation, day rehabilitation centers, and ambulatory clinics. While inpatient rehabilitation principles are widely standardized, outpatient programs display significant variability influenced by healthcare models, local environments, economic constraints, and available resources. This narrative review aims to explore and synthesize the various models of non-inpatient rehabilitation services, evaluating their effectiveness, cost-efficiency, and patient satisfaction.

[COMMUNITY-BASED REHABILITATION: IMPORTANCE, PRINCIPLES AND ADVANCEMENT IN ISRAEL].

Medical rehabilitation is developing rapidly in Israel and around the world due to the aging of the population, improvement of results of medical care, and growing awareness of the importance of rehabilitation medicine. An option of comprehensive community rehabilitation treatment is also developing quickly, both in the model of replacing hospitalization and as a professional treatment after early discharge from an inpatient program. Rehabilitation in the community has many benefits, including financial, high patient satisfaction, and in some cases even more successful results of rehabilitation.

Delirium screening in the emergency department: evaluation and intervention.

Background: Between 8-17% of older adults, and up to 40% of those arriving from nursing homes, present with delirium upon admission to the Emergency Department (ED). However, this condition often remains undiagnosed by ED medical staff. We investigated the prevalence of delirium among patients aged 65 and older admitted to the ED and assessed the impact of a prospective study aimed at increasing awareness.

Discontinuation of benzodiazepines and Z-drugs in hospitalised population at the age of 60 and above. An open-label randomized controlled trial.

Background: Treating insomnia with hypnotic drugs in elderly patients has many adverse effects. This study aims to assess the effect of two discontinuation methods of hypnotic drugs during acute hospitalization.

Methods: We conducted an open-label randomized controlled trial that included participants aged 60 and above taking benzodiazepines or Z-Drugs for at least 3 months as a treatment for insomnia and were admitted to the hospital.

Unusual presentation of aggressive high-grade B-cell lymphoma of colonic origin: A case report and review of the literature.

Colonic lymphoma is a rare disease. The presented case is unique, being manifested with abrupt onset, including circulatory shock and lactic acidosis as the initial presentation.

The effect of maternal anemia on maternal and neonatal outcomes in twin pregnancies.

Objective: The objective of this study is to investigate the effect of second trimester anemia on maternal and perinatal outcomes in twin pregnancies.

Methods: A retrospective population-based study was conducted, comparing maternal and neonatal outcomes in women carrying twins, with second trimester anemia (defined as hemoglobin < 10 g/dl) to those without anemia (defined as hemoglobin > or equal to 10 g/dl). Deliveries occurred in a tertiary medical center in 2013.
