Study DesignRetrospective Cohort Study.ObjectiveIsthmic spondylolisthesis is frequently encountered in spine surgical practice, though there is a significant variation in surgical management strategies. We sought to evaluate revision rates between patients who underwent anterior-approach lumbar interbody fusion (ALIF) alone, posterolateral fusion (PLF) alone, PLIF/TLIF, and ALIF+PSF.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFFamilial adenomatous polyposis is an important hereditary risk factor for colon cancer. Such patients and families need special attention for prevention, early detection, and optimal treatment. Molecular testing is key to identify the specific mutation in the proband and can then make it easier to identify other family members at risk.

Research Question: This study aimed to investigate the adoption patterns amongst surgeons for newer innovations and to analyse the factors affecting the implementation of the same in clinical practice. We used the adoption of osteobiologics as a case example.
Background: The predictive value of PD-L1 to select patients for immunotherapy in resectable NSCLC remains imprecise, confounded by different assays used across trials and intra-tumoural heterogeneity (ITH). We sought to compare the concordance between 3 PD-L1 antibodies stratified by EGFR mutation status, evaluate ITH and implications on survival outcomes.
Methods: Tissue microarrays were constructed from stage IA-IIIA NSCLC with 3 tumour cores per patient.
Study Design: Retrospective analysis using the MarketScan private insurance database from 2010-2020.
Objective: Determine the incidence of multiple revision cervical surgeries at 5 years following primary, single-level ACDF and assess the risk of subsequent revisions after the first and second surgeries.
Summary Of Background Data: The rate of revision surgery after ACDF is well-documented, but data on multiple revision surgeries is limited.
Study Design: Narrative Review.
Objectives: We aim to investigate the integration and impact of enabling technologies, such as augmented reality, virtual reality, mixed reality, navigation, robotics, and artificial intelligence within the domain of spinal surgery.
Methods: We made a literature review for articles that examined the progression of adoption from initial to subsequent adopters.
Study Design: Cross-sectional study.
Objectives: To assess global practices and preferences in the use of osteobiologics for anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) and identify factors influencing the choice of specific osteobiologics.
Methods: An online survey developed by AO Spine was distributed to spine surgeons worldwide.
Study Designs: Retrospective Database Analysis.
Objectives: Pre-operative glycemic control in diabetic patients undergoing lumbar fusion (LF) is essential for evaluating complication risk. However, current thresholds for preoperative HbA1c and same-day-glucose (SDG) are either non-specific or have low predictive power.

The draft genome sequence of DS1 was isolated for high-acidity vinegar fermentation. The DS1 draft genome has a length of 8,793,442 bp, with 44.27% GC content, 3,053 proteins, 3,169 genes, and 15 genes that play an important role in acetic acid production.

Objectives: Players in the National Basketball Association (NBA) are at high risk for ACL tears which are detrimental to their career due to the months of rehabilitation. The authors hypothesize that after anterior crucial ligament (ACL) injury, older players will be less likely to return to the NBA, players that do return will have a lower performance efficiency rating (PER), and the decrease in PER will be associated with a lower salary.
Methods: This case-control study utilized the publicly available database maintained by the NBA, professional basketball players from 2002 to 2022 who suffered an ACL tear were identified.
Study Design: Reliability study.
Objectives: The radiographic diagnosis of non-union is not standardized. Prior authors have suggested using a cutoff of <1 mm interspinous process motion (ISPM) on flexion-extension radiographs, but the ability of practicing surgeons to make these measurements reliably is not clear.
Unlabelled: Little is known regarding osteoporosis management between Traditional Medicare (TM) and Medicare Advantage (MA). MA beneficiaries had higher rates of osteoporosis testing and higher rates of osteoporosis drug treatment initiation rates. Following an osteoporotic fragility fracture, MA beneficiaries were more likely to be prescribed osteoporosis treatment.

The purpose of this study was to determine the rate of PJK in patients with AIS who had a UIV of T1 vs those with a UIV of T2 at 5 years of follow-up.
Methods: A query was performed of a prospective, multi-center AIS database of patients who received a PSF with at least 5 years of follow-up.
Purpose: This study aims to measure the impact of the Scoliosis Research Society's travel fellowship on a spinal surgeon's career.
Methods: A non-incentivized survey was sent to 78 previous SRS junior travel fellows from 1993 to 2021. The questionnaire assessed fellowship influence on academic and administrative positions, professional society memberships, and commercial relationships.
Study Design: retrospective study.
Objective: To investigate the incidence of all-cause revision surgery between plated vs stand-alone cage constructs for single level ACDF.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed a commercial insurance claims database.
Introduction: Blood transfusions are associated with an increased risk of complications after lumbar fusion, and current anemia hemoglobin thresholds are not surgery specific. We aimed to calculate single-level lumbar fusion-specific preoperative hemoglobin strata that observe the likelihood of 90-day transfusion and evaluate whether these strata are associated with increased risk of 90-day complications and 2-year infections.
Methods: A national database identified patients undergoing primary single-level lumbar fusion with preoperative hemoglobin values (g/dL).
Objective: The PEDSPINE I and PEDSPINE II scores were developed to determine when patients require advanced imaging to rule out cervical spine injury (CSI) in children younger than 3 years of age with blunt trauma. This study aimed to evaluate these scores in an institutional cohort.
Methods: The authors identified patients younger than 3 years with blunt trauma who received cervical spine MRI from their institution's prospective database from 2012 to 2015.
Background: Endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial fine-needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) has replaced mediastinoscopy as the preferred investigation for evaluating mediastinum in staging lung cancer. There is little evidence of mediastinal staging by EBUS-TBNA from India.
Objectives: To study endobronchial ultrasound's diagnostic accuracy in staging lung cancer.
This study aims to valorize waste engine oil (WEO) for synthesizing economically viable biosurfactants (rhamnolipids) to strengthen the circular bioeconomy concept. It specifically focuses on investigating the influence of key bioprocess parameters, viz. agitation and aeration rates, on enhancing rhamnolipid yield in a fed-batch fermentation mode.
