Objective: To analyse the risk factors of hypoparathyroidism and hypocalcaemia after total thyroidectomy.
Methods: Clinical data of patients who underwent total thyroidectomy at a tertiary care hospital in southern part of India were collected retrospectively from January 2021 to May 2023. Multivariate logistic regression was used to analyse the risk factors associated with transient hypoparathyroidism and hypocalcaemia separately.

Data Sources: A convenience sample of 300 patients with oral cancer who had completed surgery provided the quantitative data, and a maximum variation purposive subsample of 20 participants, drawn from the survey sample, provided the qualitative data.
Rationale: Trigeminal schwannoma (TS) is a very rare tumour in the head-and-neck region and the occurrence of intraoperative trigeminocardiac reflex (TCR), during surgery, should not be underestimated. The physiological function of this rare brainstem reflex is yet to be fully established.
Patient Concerns: TCR occurs in a variety of surgeries, such as neurosurgical, maxillofacial, dental and skull base surgeries with bradycardia as the presenting sign.
Background: Reconstruction of anterior segmental mandibulectomy still remains a challenge. Osteocutaneous free flap remains the ideal choice of reconstruction because it restores cosmesis and function. The use of other locoregional flaps compromises cosmesis and function.

Methods: PCR was used to amplify the internal transcribed spacer (ITS)-2 region from the genomic DNA of the aetiological agent obtained from a sample of human rhinosporidiosis lesions. The amplicon was sequenced and the organism identified using the Basic Local Alignment Search Tools (BLAST).
