- A study introduced wide-area transepithelial sampling (WATS-3D) alongside forceps biopsies and found that it significantly increased the detection of IM and dysplasia in patients meeting endoscopic BE criteria.
- The addition of WATS-3D led to a confirmed BE diagnosis in about 20% more patients and nearly doubled the detection rate of dysplasia, which also greatly influenced patient management plans.
Objectives: The use of monitored anesthesia care (MAC) for colonoscopy sedation continues to increase. This study examined trends during a 9-year period in the use of MAC and explored which patient variables may have influenced these trends.
