Due to the increasing occurrence of drug resistant urinary tract infections (UTI) among children, there is a need to investigate alternative effective treatment protocols such as nanoparticles. Flagella and fimbriae are primary factors contributing the virulence of urinary tract infecting bacteria. The aim of this study was to assess the antibacterial effects of zinc oxide nanoparticles which have been synthesized using both chemical and green methods on multi-drug resistant (MDR) uropathogenic bacteria encoding fli and fim genes and investigating their binding ability to bacterial appendage proteins.

Subjective tinnitus, which is the perception of a sound in the absence of any actual external or internal acoustic stimulation, is a common symptom affecting about 15% of the population. It should be distinguished from objective tinnitus, which is the perception of a sound produced inside the human body (vascular pulsation or muscular contraction).

Purpose: To evaluate the consequences of treatment refusal in total laryngectomy (TL) candidates with T3-4M0 endolaryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (SCC).
Materials And Methods: A retrospective observational study was conducted in an inception cohort of 576 isolated T3-4M0 endolaryngeal SCC candidates for TL consecutively managed between 1970 and 2019 in a French university teaching hospital. The main endpoint was survival time and cause of death in 2 groups.
Melanoma is a metastatic cancer resistant to a wide range of therapies, including standard chemotherapy and radiation therapy, and cannot be treated with existing treatments owing to its intrinsic drug resistance. In terms of convenience and cheap cost of fabrication, one of the novel treatments is using polydopamine-coated iron oxide nanoparticles (IONs@PDA). Iron oxide nanoparticles (IONs) were synthesized (7.

In this work, zinc sulfide (ZnS) nanowires have been grown by metalorganic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD), using gold or gold-gallium alloys as catalyst. At first, basic studies on MOCVD growth regimes (mass-transport, zinc- or sulfur- rich conditions) have been carried out for ZnS thin films.

This study investigated the effect of CeO on the expression of genes associated with apoptosis and testicular development in mouse embryos. The experimental groups of pregnant mice were injected intraperitoneally with CeO at a concentration of 10 mg/kg on days 7 and 14 of pregnancy.

Cumulus cells were prepared from mouse cumulus-oocyte complexes (COCs) and incubated for 24 h in an in vitro culture (IVC) medium that contained different concentrations of cyanocobalamin (100, 200, 300 or 500 pM). We collected 2-cell embryos from superovulated NMRI mice and cultured them in the same concentrations of cyanocobalamin (100, 200, 300 or 500 pM).

Although there are concerns about climate change, its influence on tree species in the Hyrcanian forests in the north of Iran is still unidentified. Taxus baccata is among the few conifer species found in the region, and the present study aims to evaluate the potential impact of climate change on the distribution of T.

In this work, we used ZnMgO layers as markers to analyze the growth mechanisms and kinetics during the deposition of ZnMgO/ZnO multilayered shells by molecular beam epitaxy on previously grown ZnO nanowire cores (so called core-shell heterostructures). Specifically, the influence of the O flow sent into the plasma cell on the adatom surface mobility was investigated.

Overexpression of efflux pumps is one of the major causes of resistance in bacteria. The aim of this study was to investigate the role of efflux pumps in conferring resistance to imipenem in clinically important and .

Materials And Methods: A randomized two-parallel-group (HAART group versus HAART+IMOD group), pretest-posttest design was used.Sixty patients with indications for treatment with the HAART regimen participated.
Background: Quantum dots (QDs) are new types of fluorescent materials for biological labeling. QDs toxicity study is an essential requirement for future clinical applications. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate cytotoxic effects of CdSe: ZnS QDs on male reproductive system.

The reaction was carried out in water under ultrasound irradiation, using nanosized MCM-41-SO(3)H. In this method, several types of aromatic aldehyde, containing electron-withdrawing groups as well as electron-donating groups, were rapidly converted to the corresponding 1,8-dioxo-octahydroxanthenes in good to excellent yields.
