[A case of subglottic cysts in monochorionic monoamniotic twins].

The first observation in the world literature of the development of subglottic cysts in the larynx in monochorionic monoamniotic twins is presented. The girls were born prematurely at 34 weeks of gestation, from the first day of life for 7 and 8 days, respectively, were transferred to mechanical ventilation. At the fourth month of life, symptoms of laryngeal stenosis appeared and began to gradually progress, conservative therapy had no effect.

[Partial sequestration of the labyrinth in a child with chronic suppurative otitis media with cholesteatoma].

A clinical case of a 16-year-old child with chronic suppurative otitis media with cholesteatoma complicated by partial labyrinth sequestration is presented. The case describes is a rare disorder. Computed tomography of temporal bones consistent with intraoperative data was decisive in establishing the diagnosis and the surgery extent.

Brucellosis control in Tajikistan using Rev 1 vaccine: change in seroprevalence in small ruminants from 2004 to 2009.

Cross-sectional serological surveys of 13,006 small ruminants were conducted in 2003 to establish baseline levels of seropositivity to brucellosis and of 12,102 again in 2009 to evaluate the efficacy of controls based on biannual conjunctival vaccination with Rev 1. Seroprevalence dropped by 80 per cent in five years in eight pilot programme districts where vaccination was generally well implemented, and the prevalence of households with evidence of infection in their animals dropped from 25.1 to 7.

Survey of the seroprevalence of brucellosis in ruminants in Tajikistan.

A cross-sectional serological survey of the prevalence of brucellosis in ruminants in the Region of Republican Subordination and Khatlon oblasts (provinces) in Tajikistan was conducted in May 2003. Sera from 13,625 ruminants involving 3513 households in 172 kishlaks (villages) were collected and screened by the rose bengal test. Doubtful and positive results were further tested with competitive and indirect elisas.
